Excellent shot. I love the HDR technique. May I ask if you are using Photomatix software, as I'm thinking of trying it out.

    Cheers, Joe

  1. I took this photo a few years ago with a polaroid camera in order to

make Polaroid emulsion transfers. I scanned the original and made

it sepia tone and printed on Hahnemuhle paper using an Epson 1280. I

thought that it may be of interest to anyone with an interest in

Abraham Lincoln. This home is about a mile from the Lincoln Log

Cabin State Historical Site and about a mile from where Abe's

parents, Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln are buried. President Lincoln

visited here and stayed with the Moore's on several occasions. Coles

County is in the heart of the Land of Lincoln. If you are ever in

central Illinois, there is much to see in and around Charleston and

Greenup Illinois. Be sure to visit Fox Ridge State Park, the Crown

    Jewel of central Illinois.

    Hi Brent,

Thanks for the comments. The lens was a Canon 50mm USM f/1.4, mounted on a Canon 10D, making it the same as an 80mm lens on a 35mm film camera. I was shooting on program using window lighting only, so the lens was probably wide open at 1.4 or in that vicinity.

    Hi Philip,

I tried to "fix" a shot rather quickly and post on this forum. I couldn't figure out how to post it here but you can check my portfolio and see the "non smoking" version.

    Cheers, Joe

I know that the Windy City has a relatively new Botanical Garden, when compared to the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. Was this one shot at Mr. Shaw's Garden by chance?

I rather like the riderless shot. Somewhat like a pair of gardener's gloves next to his or her tools on an empty bench. There is no doubt in my mind that a human was very much involved in this shot. Hopefully, the rider walked away from the accident. Cheers, Joe.

I really like the drama in this scene. Every thing comes together very well. The compositon, the tones, the textures, the dramatic sky, the lighting on the subject, the gaze....everything! I wish that my self portraits were this good. Well done Rogerio! Cheers,Joe.
  2. I love all of your photographs Alberto. You are truly a great photographer. I very much wish to travel to Spain to see and photograph this beautiful land, so rich with history. Thank you for sharing with us.

  3. I've tried to rate some of these, and I think they are awesome. But then, I'm a big fan of Henri Cartier-Bresson, as well. From just a simple kind of man out in the cornfields, I think your photos are farm out!
