Hi, I will be in Switzerland for several months. And, I want to know in the country where is the best place to buy films including B&W negatives, color negatives and slides. Is it cheap and easy to buy? Stores with on-net sales are prefered.
Thanks in advance.
used this gear? it has a secondary reflector, but i don't know how to
turn on it (make it work ). it seems it never flash in any mode.
thanks.

thanks. but what exact value should i apply? 1/2.5 = 0.4? and, i also noticed the Image->Adjustments-Exposure->Gamma seems identical to the middle slide in the Level diagram, except the value inversed. am i right?
-
hi,
in PS, does the gamma correcting mean play with the middle slider in the level
tool? if i have a linear tiff file without gamma correcting ( maybe i should
say the gamma is 1 ) and want to correct it to a gamma value of 2.5, what should
i do in the level tool?
thanks.

hi,
i've been mixed Kodak F-5 by myself, but because i only process one to two rolls
of films, so i want to use the F-5 in a one-shot style ( mix just before use
and then discard after use it ). for one shot using, i think i dont need so
many ingredients and dont need so much of hypo. one thing i am also not sure, do
i need the hardener ( Potassium alum )? for modern films, people said hardener
is not necessary, but my master film is Kodak 400TX, is it belong to the class
of modern films?
below are ordinary Kodak F-5 formulas, just FYI
Water ( 125 F ): 600ml
Sodium thiosulfate ( hypo ) 240g
Sodium sulfite, dessic 15g
Acetic acid 48ml
Boric acid, crystals 7.5g
Potassium alum 15g
cold water to make 1 liter
thanks in advance.

thanks for all your inputs.
Raymond,
to IBM compatiable system, a MB with an embedded video card normally has a BIOS options which also called video aperture, does it has anything to do with what you said 'aperture'?

my computer is too old and stoped to work yesterday. i am hence now considering
buy in a new mother board, DDR memory and a cpu. but i am not sure if i should
use a mother board with embedded video chip or buy in a dedicated video card
such as ATI's. my most heavy duty are scanning and PS processing, so my
question is that, for these kind of jobs, does an on-board video chip fast
enough or whether a dedicated video card will provide any extra benifit?
thanks in advance.

i believe it's a software thing, since after you changed the gamma, the preview immediately changed.

very nice! thank you Daniel!

thank you Gary! and i so much like to hear more on this topic. current, one thing confusing me is that i doubt scanning in b&w films as color negative will give any advantage, and if do it so, how to handle the 'color' cast before converting it back to b&w?
-
yes, it's CS. but i cann't see any useful thing in the action palette, there is only a 'default' icon in it and there are merely many 'select workspace...' when i open the 'default'. how to use it?

i want to learn makeing simple frames, which should get a little drop shadow, a
inter/outer border and can have my signature. where is a simple tutorial about
that? thanks.

thanks for your inputs, but no one answered yet how it really works. i've actually read the tutorial you folks mentioned and i did see visual feedbacks of these three algorithm. but to grasp them fully, i think we need to get know details in term of algorithm. for example, what is neutral gray? how PS find it? when got it, what PS will do then?
the ultimate answer when we approach, i think we can resolve the following question: for a given (r,g,b) or a set of (R,G,B), when we choice this algorithm and set it these parameters, what the new (r,g,b ) or the new (R,G,B) set we will get?

Craig,
if so, my question changes to how the auto colour algorithm works. and, rather than using 'find dark and light colours', when using 'enhance per channel contrast', how the whole thing works.
thanks.

in PS, you bring up level or curvel diagram and press the 'options' button, then
you will get a dialog which used to help balance colors. basically, you specify
the follow three parameters:
1, the algorithm ( enhance monochromatic contrast, enhance per channel contrast,
find dark & light colors );
2, set black & white points.
3, set midtones in (r,g,b)
my question is that what's the underlying algorithm used here? in the other
works, what PS will exactlly do in the following two cases:
a, use 'find dark & light colors' and set B/W points to (b%,w%) and specity a
midtone as (nr,ng,nb)
b, use 'enhance per channel contrast' and set B/W points to (b%,w%) and specity
a midtone as (nr,ng,nb)
and, i specially interest how PS use the (nr,ng,nb)
thank you very much.

thank you! actually, i've ever take off the screws and hood and the screen more than one times. i do that because i wanted to clean dust on it and i finally found i am wide open at the Rollei's mechanical art!
taking it to a professional rollei person is not easy to me, but i will try. but, first of all, i need to get a Maxwell glass -- i live in China.

i get know nothing about mercury battery. but i guess any 1.35v battery with same shape should work with the Luna-Pro, am i rihgt? does the battery easy to buy?

hi,
though i have already owned a Sekonic L558 handheld lightmeter, i still want buy
another compact andy easy to carrry lightmeter. i think it should support
incident and reflective measuring mode. so, which one is best between an used
Gossen Luna-Pro and a new Seknoic L208? will be a pretty old Gossen Luna-Pro
accurate enough? i like to hear any of you opinion, thanks.

i am interesting in Maxcell focusing screen for Rolleiflex. but i has a 3.5E
rolleiflex which is not a mode with removable hood. my question is, can i use
the Maxcell foucsing screen on my camera? i think i can takes off screws on the
hood to remove it.

thanks

even though i already has a L558 spot meter, i still want to buy a compact, easy
carry-able meter which can support reflective & incident measuring. i am now
thinking about Gossen Luna-Pro and Sekonic L208, my question is:
1, how about the two meters? is there any experience and opinion from you? i
hope to listen.
2, Gossen Luna-Pro or Sekonic L208, which one is better? will be still accurate
a very old meter such as Luna-Pro?
thansk.

Hi, www.hobbylab.ch is only Franch and Germany, no English available, and www.ars-imago.ch is not reachable.
Foto Gatz may seems a good place to go since I can go Zurich (though I will be living in Cham and work in Zug). I google-mapped 'Foto Gatz Zurich' but without a result. Would you tell me how about the prices? Thanks.
