  1. Thank you for the feed back. I was out today shooting a few Raw shots to try out. I think this is the way to go, although I have not put it to the real test as yet. I like the idea of the Whibal plug in for PS but until I get the hang of it I shall carry on converting in Canon Zoom browser. The only thing is in ZB I have to treat every shot individually, I can't find anything within this program to Batch correct, unless some knows different.
  2. One of my passions, is photographing the interior of old pubs. The problem with

this of course is getting the white balance correct, I do try to get it right

before taking the shot, but with all the different lighting, dark woods and

yellowing walls in these establishments its not easy. I try to get it somewhere

near correct, but always seem to end up with a yellow cast over everything, and

this includes the skin tones of customers. I have tried to correct this using

the variations tool in Photoshop 7, but this seems to be an all or nothing

correction and will not allow slight variations to be used. Is there some

program within PS where this white balance problem can be corrected, if there

is, what is it and how is it used?

I have to say I don't use flash, but prefer to rely on lens (f/1.4 30mm) and

    camera settings.

No need to apologize all input is good. Thank you all for your comments, they are greatly appreciated. I find that with this lens I can take shots in very low light without blasting the subject with bright flash light (that's why I bought it), I do prefer natural light, even when it is quite dark (candle light for instance), if the inbuilt flash pops up I shut it down, and trust the angle of the shot for a decent picture.

  4. I have just bought (not delivered yet), the Sigma 30mm 1.4 HSM lens for my Canon

300D. I have searched the web but can not find out if there is a Lens Hood

supplied as standard with this lens. When I bought my Sigma 18-125, there was a

lens hood delivered with it. Is there one included with the 30mm?

  5. I did consider the Canon 28mm, and viewed a few comparison photos against the Sigma. There wasn't a lot to choose between them both, except the Sigma was a bit Sharper and more contrasty. The other things are 30mm against 28 (I would prefer 30), and 1.4 as opposed to 1.8, also the Canon is quite a bit more expensive.
  6. I have had my Canon 300D for a while now and will continue to use it for a long

time to come,in the near future will possibly update to a newer model. I have my

eyes on a new 5D but whether my finances will go this far I don't know I may

have to stick with a 30D. However right now I would like a better lens, I have

my 50mm 1.4 USM Canon, but with the crop factor I would like something to give

me the equivalent of a 50mm lens on a 35mm film Camera. I prefer prime lenses,

and as Canon do not produce such a lens (don't mention the L's), I have looked

very closely at the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM. Would this be a sensible buy for me?

  7. I am about ready now to replace my Canon PS A60 which has been a faithful friend now for the last four years. My choices where all canon naturally including the A640, but I decided to go with the A630 instead, as I thought like you 10mp was a bit overkill, and I can do without the remote capture facility, and with the money I save, I can get the LA-DC58F conversion adapter and maybe a couple of filters or a lens hood.

It should be here next week, I can't wait.

  8. I have a Cullmann SL 28 flash unit, which I used as a back-up slave

for my EOS5 when needed. It has a hot shoe, a pick up on top

activated by a flash unit on the camera, and also a short connecting

cord which I used once or twice on my Leica 111f. This cord also

fits the connecting plug on my Rolleicord V, I have not tried it

yet, but would it work OK and if so at what speeds and settings on

    the camera.

I don't want to damage anything or waste film through trial and

error, that is why I ask.

    I hope someone can help.

You can see the flash unit here.

  9. I am about to take delivery of a Rolleicord V. Having read through

the instructions they say that there is an automatic stop on the

first exposure, but nothing about the rest. Will it be like my old

Rolleiflex Automat that stops automatically on each wind of the

film, or do I have to keep a check on the window to prevent over

winding. Also are there any other good tips on film loading with

    this camera.
