Bingo! There is something snapped off exactly where you said it would be. I just have to figure out the best way to do it with what I have. I don't want to damage the digital body.
Thanks gents!

"FEE" does show up. The studs were checked and are clean.
-
Aperture ring was locked. I bought it from Henry's (Toronto), arguable Canada's highest volume dealer, and they had no explanations.

I recently bought a D70s. My 50mm does not work with it. At the
dealer it wouldn't work on an new F80 either. Is the CPU in my lens
too old or obsolete? The three salesmen were completely puzzled.
It DOES work beautifully with my F90x. It is my favourite lens and
I am very disappointed. What could it be? Any suggestions/comments
would be grand!

Helen,
I just got back from 3 months of backpacking. I had a travel partner to help share the load of my heavy backpack...
I'd get an advanced SLR and a long zoom. The Nikon 24(or20)-120 would be my choice. Consider a D-slr. Reason being if you're tired you won't take shots, as said before. You don't want so much equipment that you have to worry about it all the time. Less is more. You can pack less camera gear and more necessities. Anything over 2 months is a long trip.
BRING A QUICK RELEASE TRIPOD!!!! I brought a light SLK that did the job but screwing it on every time was a pain. A small lowepro bag that fits into another daypack is all you want, trust me.
The flights were also a pain because of the film scanning issue. Again, consider a D-slr. You can get CD's burned quite cheaply on the road.
Lots to think about.

Folks,
I've got my hands on a hand-me-down slide projector; a Sawyers
Rotomatic 727AQ. My question is whether or not I need some sort of
tray for it to work properly? I tested a slide (a junky shot
luckily) and it scratched it! I did a google search and I only got
them selling on ebay for $9.99. Is that price the answer to my
question?
Thanks,
Pete

Thank you all so much for the tips. After getting it all back I'll let you know.
One more thing, is scanning the prints and slides upon processing a good idea? I have no idea of the cost involved. I'll probably just scan the best ones on my own scanner if it is too pricey.
Thanks again! I'm amazed at this online community, I can't believe how good it is.

Dear Mr. Stone,
A simple, concise contribution to this forum would be sufficient. Thanks for your wisdom/cynicism.

Folks,
Will the reduction factor of 1.4 or 1.6 or whatever go away in the
future? I love my current lenses and am worried that there might be
changes in technique or framing with a DSLR. Should I be worried?
Curiously,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have just come back from 6 months in Japan and South East Asia. I
have roughly 35 rolls of print and 15 rolls of colour slide film.
Where should I go? I'm looking for quality and price. Costco, at
this point, is not even an option, so really it is between possibly
Henry's or Black's. In the past with Blacks I have gotten 1 set
colour and the 2nd set B&W with borders and have been very pleased.
However, I now use an SLR with good lenses and I'm not sure if this
makes a difference. As for slides, the processing in Japan was
excellent and very economical. I didn't trust the labs in S.E. Asia
for niether slides or negatives regardless of the savings. Does
anyone have any comparisons between the two or alternatives?
Thanks in advance,
Pete

Photo net users,
I am meeting my 3 month old niece for the first time next week. My
experience in the past for taking baby photos was very
dissapointing... many shots and nothing spectacular. What are some
basics for setting, film use, and framing (with adults, in crib,
positioning, etc.). I really want to capture these moments before
they are gone. I use a Nikon SLR with an 18-35 3.5D and an 80-200
2.8D (I dropped my favourite 50mm at Ankor Wat, hence the gap!). I
also have a 3.1 megapixel Nikon point and shoot. Any tips will be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete Andrew

Cheers fellas!

P.S. does anybody have any travel horror stories? We could all learn from somebody...
-
I am going to be travelling in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam
for about two months. I have been living in Japan for the past 15
months (and thus have updated and greatly expanded my equipment) and
will be leaving from here. I just realized that my travel insurance
only covers upto $300 Cdn for each item, if stolen... a drop in the
bucket really. Is one lens considered an 'item', and my body
another 'item'? Does anyone know of more comprehensive insurance
that is affordable and available online or over the phone to someone
overseas?
Any help would be appreciated.
Pete
P.S. Any horror stories might help me appreciate the value of
insurance too.

Help, On my 50mm lens I recently noticed an egg shaped, rust colored
burn mark on the rear lens (on the inner surface). It looks like a
burn because it also has tiny black spots throughout the mark. It was
only on my latest rolls of slide film that I noticed it on my
photographs, on 5 frames in all. It may only happen at certain
apertures or lighting conditions. What is it? Is it worth repairing?
I live in Japan and the language barrier is usually too much for my
Japanese and patience, any responses will be appreciated.

AF 50mm 1.4D works on my F90x but not my D70s!!
