More DOF? Do you guys realize the depth of field actually available at this magnification (1:2 or so) in 35mm macro photography. This shot was taken at f11. The only way to get the front legs in focus as well as the eyes would have been to step down to f10000.
Believe me, I would love to have got more of this moth in focus. Macro photography is all about DOF compromises.

This flower bloomed for a few days and then withered. I caught it at
its prime just before sunset. My cheap scanner cannot do justice to
the colours in the slide.

The branch with leaves could have been used as a nice framing mechanism - instead the out-of-focus leaves are distracting and there is too much dead space to the top right.

To work fully, the composition would need to be symetrical. The camera is clearly offset slightly.
