kelsey_cobb 0 Posted December 18, 2002 Awesome shot! Really generates a lot of warm feelings for this bird. How did you get this? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 18, 2002 I like it very much. This may be a criticism of the scanner and not the photo: wouldn't you actually like to see the surface of the goose's head and neck? On my screen, it's a little muddy. I wonder what the chrome looks like. Link to comment
mark e 0 Posted December 18, 2002 I agree that your point of focus is correct, but I would like to have seen more DOF. The softness in the goose's feather's take away a bit from the effectiveness of the image. You may have had no choice though. It's a very good image overall ;-) Link to comment
joseph_pugno 0 Posted December 18, 2002 It looks a little muddy because I took it from 56,000,000 bytes down to 45,000 bytes. The actual slide is crystal clear. Link to comment
joseph_pugno 0 Posted December 18, 2002 You're right that I did not have any choice in the DOF. The goose feathers, even from up close almost have a fuzzy appearance, sort of impossible to really focus on even with the human eye. I'm not sure why that is. He was a friendly bird, though, so I won't criticize his coat too much. Link to comment
martin_oconnor1 0 Posted December 20, 2002 I think John Swah has an almost identical shot in one of his books. Link to comment
jeff nichols 0 Posted December 21, 2002 nice idea. wish the light was a little bettr, or the flash highlighted the feathers. did you use an on camera flash? Link to comment
dougsgraphics 0 Posted December 23, 2002 Eye, especially the left side, doesn't jump out at you. A more indirect lighting would improve the image by lighting that portion of the eye (hard, I know -- it looks like you used on-camera flash?) Link to comment
