I use the 50 mostly on the 0.85 but can use it on the 0.58 without
any difficulty. Now that I have the wides, I will be using it with
the 0.85 more. BTW, if I could only have one of these bodies, I
would pick the 0.58....it just suits my style better.

Nice. I've had parents angry with me because I had taken (stolen) a
pic of their children without permission.

Very nicely done. I would like to see Kerry (previous post) obtain
this image with his new noisy Cannon digital.

Would like to purchase a wide angle lens in the range of 21 mm to 24 mm. Advice of makes and models would be appreciated as well as pro/cons. Do I really need optional viewfinders? Price not an issue but would like to dave $$. Thanks Don

I've been told that over 95% of ALL film sold is to amateur
photographers. This being the case, once the masses go over to
digital, the makers of film will only be supplying the more serious.
Will R&D cease, what about the cost? I think film will always be
available, but at what price.

Should have been more specific. I'm going to Italy and will be gone
about 3 weeks. Planning on taking 75-100 rolls of film but have been
told that some authorities/countries have restrictions of the number
of rolls which can be taken into the country. Any truth?

I can take dwith me?

I've have considered your questions several times myself. I have
found that even 1.0 might not be fast enough all the time. I no
longer stress over the "which lens" question, but now consider which
film. Faster films have eased my pain.

I'm looking at this Euro$ very close at the present time since I will
going to Italy 5/2002. When you say that the Euro is down, are you
saying that the price paid by those of us with the USD will be paying
more for goods and services, or less once exchanged?

Thanks to all for the valuable insights. Guess I'll just stay home.
Just kidding. Thanks again. Don

Going to Italy, anyone have problems with thieves? Been told that your pocket can be picked before you get out of the airport.
-
Ditto. Enough said.
-
Both my M6 have them. No problems. Also recommend Lutz's "thingy"
for reducing the dreaded "viewfinder flare".

I have the Calumet bag which "pops" up like a tent. About $80.00 and
very happy with quality.

Great responses. Thanks, I'll give it a try. Merry Christmas. Don

Nice image Mike. Film and developer details?

I'll have to think about this one although I have been very staisfied
with your other products. I have the sling and shade. The shade
stays on all the time and has reduced the dreaded Leica finder flare
as stated. Keep up the good work.

In addition to my B&W developing,I wish to try E6. Has anyone done at home E6 developing using the kits available? Is it worth the trouble and expense. I presently pay $6.00 for one roll of 120 to be developed and of course pushing adds an additional $2.00
<p>
Thanks and have a Merry Chirstmas

Tim,
I have enjoyed your site. I too have made the switch, but to Leica
from Nikon. I had a F5 with lenses (all AF-S) out to 400mm and used
this very little. So big and bulky not to mention heavy. I found
that I would replace the camera and lens back into a backpack to
avoid damaging the camera/lens. Price? the F5 is no cheaper that the
M6TTL which gets much more use than the Nikon ever did. Whild
walking around, I'm more able to shield the Leica and lens than the
Nikon equipment. Thanks for sharing.

Yes Bob, but when you rate it at 200, are your developing time those
of 200 or 400?
-
Normal development at 400 or pulled to 200?

I have a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod with Arca Swiss ball head. Great
setup. Rock solid and reliable. I once got the Gitzo full of pine
sap while hiking. I was able to field strip the tripod, clean and
reassemble all without tools. Wonderful.

any tricks or suggestions on its use. Seems straight forward. One thing I don't care for is that the exposure compensation is not retained once the unit is turned off.
Does anyone have a formula for Diafine?
