1. hi, I have recently returned to photonet and am wondering the same thing, also posted this question, then saw yours
 2. how does it work to sell photographs on photo.net, have been unable to find information on the site, but saw it listed as a feature included with paid membership, have mostly been selling at art fairs and festivals, would like to have a venue to sell online, but with low cost or free initially, because I don’t know whether I would sell enough online to make a larger cost worthwhile
 3. thanks, maybe it will help if I forward this to the person who sent me the email
 4. I have been setting up a booth and displaying and selling my photographs at various festivals, art fairs and shops. I have mostly nature photography but also have some excellent photographs of musicians, taken while they are performing, which I have occasionally sold a copy of. Getting ready for a nearby music festival, and was told I could not sell photographs of the musicians who have performed there previous years, which is disappointing. I received an email saying, "the musician owns the rights to their photographs and you cannot sell them unless you have a signed release. If you get a signed release you can sell them". Is it illegal to show and/or sell photographs of musicians playing in public, does it matter whether it is in a public or private space? How can I go about getting a signed release from these musicians. I have images of Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, and others from previous years at the festival. Also, if such a release is necessary, how would it be worded? Thanks for any suggestions or information.
 5. I would like to go to the Colorado Springs/manitou springs area in the peak of the wildflower season, was thinking that would be late June into early July, but will that be too late, heard it has been a very dry spring
 6. Saw Century Brand diopters, apparently made by Schneider Optics, B + W, with Schott glass, dual element achromatic closeup, with excellent reviews, however, am confused because they are listed in some places as being for videography...wondering if they are for still photography also, as the quality seems superb
 7. Thanks again, William, and everyone else who is taking the time to respond, I no longer have the Nikon closeup lenses, they were stolen, are no longer made, and the diameter would have been too small anyway I think because I was using them with the 58 mm canon 100 macro and will be using th 100L IS which has 67 mm threads... are you familiar with the dorr, marumi, century, raynox, or xpro...these are all listed as achromatic dual element, would these also cause noticeable degradation, how would they compare with the canon 500d and 250d, and wondering if those canon cu lenses will cause degrading of the image when used with the canon 100 macro
 8. First, thanks to everyone who responded. Maybe I wasn't as clear as I could be, and my post was kind of long. This is not new to me, I have been doing this for several years, using my 100 macro, kenkko tubes and Nikon closeup diopters, occasionally the 14 canon ringlight. I already know how much magnification I need for what I am doing. I also knew the canon 500D and 250D, the D stands for dual element, I was wanting to know what other manufacturers' closeup lenses are dual rather than single element and which are the highest quality...I have the mpe 65 ultimate lens, but for some days I like to just bring the 100 with accessories for its flexibility...I haven't used bellows, that may be too clumsy for me. Now that the 100L IS USM macro will be arriving, probably today, is 67 instead of the 58 mm, am thinking of some new accessories, can still use the tubes, will consider other possibilities, but wondering what size and brand of the diopters or closeup lenses will have the sharpest results for the occasional experience where I want to go deeper than the macro lens and kenko tubes will take me, thanks
 9. Have been using a canon 100 macro lens and love it, but have a 100L macro with IS on the way...in doing some extreme macro, would like to use my kenkko extension tubes along with closeup lenses on the front, and, sometimes, canon 14x ringlight. I am looking for the best possible closeup lenses to get, and have read that double element rather than single element will give better quality images, however it is not easy to tell which are double and which are single element. Recommendatons for closeup filters? Also, was looking at the Canon 500D and 250D closeup lenses. Since the diameter of the new lens is 67, and canon does not seem to make these in 67mm size, I was assuming that I would need to get a larger size closeup lens and an adapter, however someone at canon said, no, I can use a smaller diameter, such as 58mm, how would this not cause vignetting? also confused as to how the ringlight adapter will work, since the ringlight fit right onto my older 100macro lens with a 58mm diameter, so wouldn't this new 100L macro IS lens be larger, at 67mm, than the ringlight opening...also, would a 1.4 or 2x extender be helpful somewhere in the mix...I like to get really far into the details of tiny parts of flowers, sometimes grasshopper portraits, etc...so any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks!
 10. have been using strathmore photo frame cards to insert a photograph for sale at art fairs, considering trying something where I can instead print right onto the card, any good quality cards with envelopes you've tried? also possibly postcards, thanks, virginia
 11. will be in bayahibe and wondering whether and how to arrange a trip to one of the outlying islands making the most of photography opportunities, was there once before and staying again at dreams la romana and walking into bayahibe, wondering whether to go to isla saona, catalina or catalinita, or other parts of the national park, and who would be best to arrange this week to experience the best locations for photography, and whether it will be easy to protect my camera equipment in the boat from damage...or maybe will just stay on the beach and in bayahibe...any suggestions?
 12.
I have a pretty new macbook pro with retina, and have been having problems...my photographic images are stored on several small portable external hard drives that i have used with my previous computers...i tried plugging in four of them yesterday (separately, not at the same time) through usb, two of them worked, but two of them didn't. One just does not show up at all, for the other one, i get a message saying, the hard drive you plugged in cannot be read by this computer, or something like that, and it gives me three options, one is ignore, one is initialize...what does initialize mean? what can i try next? I would like to access the images and bring them into lightroom (I was using them on my previous computer, some in aperture, some into photoshop elements...using canon 6D and/or xti cameras, thanks for any suggestions, virginia

 13.
Have a macbook pro with osx10.9.5, haven't upgraded to yosemite yet, what would be the pros and cons...still have an aperture library, then began using lightroom, also a previous photoshop elements...thanks

 14.
well, i would like to go there, had read in a couple of places that you may not photograph there, but questioned it, so am glad to know that you can...thanks, virginia

 15.
have you been able to photograph within christiania, any suggestions on this?

 16.
thanks, jeff, i'll try that tonight, i was told by someone that you could burn to cd and dvd, but for bluray you needed additional software, so this is good news, thanks, virginia

 17.
Have a new macbook pro and a bluray burner, would like to try backing up some of my photographs to bluray, can someone suggest a good and simple software to use to burn files to bluray, free if possible, i'm seeing many for pc, not for mac, thanks, virginia

 18.
Will be in copenhagen for a few days in mid/late november, any suggestions on things to see, experience, photograph in and around copenhagen? thanks, virginia

 19.
thank you so much, eric, and everyone else, for taking the time and care to respond, sorry the interactions got kind of ugly, my new macbook pro is now on its way to my home, and for now i will be backing up to external hard drives and blurays...

 20.
Thanks, everyone, for sharing your insights and experiences, it's been very helpful, Virginia

 21.
Am getting a new 15" macbook pro, and rethinking my plans for handling images...have been using aperture, so probably moving to lightroom, have been keeping the images on a portable external hard drive and backing up to a second drive and/or dvd...one of my external hard drives became corrupted, so would like to continue a second backup on another media...dvd or bluray?...would be nice not to have to break up my 16G camera cards to 3 or 4 dvd's, so considering bluray but have never used it...i see a few older posts about bluray, but nothing recent, what do you think of getting a burner (suggestions on brands?) and burning to bluray instead of dvd...i know a second external harddrive would probably be quicker and easier, but losing one was kind of traumatic, luckily i had almost all the images on it backed up...thanks for any thoughts and support, virginia

 22.
will be getting a new macbook pro retina 15" and using it for photography, anyone using a screen protector? i see there are thin filmy ones and rigid plastic ones, can you suggest a good one, or do you think they will interfere with view of the images, thanks, virginia

 23.
I keep all my raw photograph files on portable external hard drives, and used to back them up to dvd's, upon being told that dvd's are becoming rather obsolete, I in the beginning of 2013 began backing them up to a second external hard drive instead. I bought two new seagate 1T external drives at the beginning of 2013, and began using them, and one has already failed. It scared me into backing everything up onto dvd's again. I have heard ssd hard drives are less likely to break because they have no moving parts, but they are more expensive, and I have been told they are not generally used for storage. What would you suggest, I am not an equipment geek and not extremely computer savy so would like to keep it relatively simple and portable, thanks for your suggestions, Virginia
