oh and James: that was the price with the 28-100 kit lens.
-
Prices are canadian and its only a $5-10 (mcdonalds) style lunch.

I've had an offer made on my F80 which is unfortunately just collecting dust.
The offer is $75+lunch. I don't know what to do. Its mighty hard to sell film
cameras now so it kinda looks like a good deal. But I bought this 3-4 years
ago for like $800 and in that sense $75 doesn't seem like a lot at all. I'm
tempted to keep it so that I can play around with film every now and then but
in the last year that's been 1 time, 0 since I bought my d200. What to do?

I recently purchased another battery for my d200 (EN-EL3e). I have used it in
my mb-d200 battery pack and noticed that battery life isn't that great. I just
checked and its dead after only 123 images!!! Does this sound like a defective
battery? What can I do about it?

I want to make it clear (and i think its understood) that I do not want to go behind the photographer's back and steal his business. As a side note the hired "pro" photographer didn't know what he was doing, his pictures turned out lousy; but he was a an easy going guy about me shooting as well.
I would gift them to my cousin and maybe thats what i'll do with the dvd (include it for free). However she had said that she would be interested in buying some prints. This is where I am looking for a fair price. I don't know if she'll order 5 or 100 of my pictures. I am not looking for a profit just to cover cost and a little bit for editing time. I would give a print "package" as a gift but as a person who has been out of school for only a year (spent all my money on camera/computer) I frankly can't afford to give away prints.

I just shot my cousin's wedding as a second photographer (unpaid). She is now
looking at buying some images off me and I would like to charge her a fair rate
but also make sure my editing time is accounted for. I do not shoot weddings
professionally, and photography is just a hobby so I don't really know where to
start.
These are the costs of getting prints done:
4x6" $0.50 each
5x7" $1.50 each
8x10" $6.00 each
12x18" $15.00 each
(prices decrease on quantity printed)
I was thinking of charging the following to my cousin:
4x6" $1.00 each
5x7" $3.00 each
8x10" $15.00 each
12x18" $40.00 each
DVDs (image files only, jpg format, unlimited images)
-without rights to print (watermarked images)- $25
-with rights to print (no watermark) $50 (more?)
Please comment on this. I am really unsure of how to deal with the
copyrighting/pricing on DVDs. What options do I have. I realize this is
family but i would still like to protect myself and compensate a little for my
time. I guess part of the irony with the DVD is that if I were to watermark the
images its more work for me and i'm charging less for that disk.
What to do???
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

I bought a new computer (pc) with Windows Vista (64bit) and copied some photos
from my old computer (raw NEF format). Note that these images were fine on the
old computer as well as on the camera. Some of them have a horizontal or
vertical "noise" band approx 10 px wide. I am assuming this is either a Vista
issue or a conflict between photoshop/adobe bridge and vista. It did not
happen when I was on XP pro. Anybody know whats going on?
Second question while i'm at it:
The camera died on me during a wedding. Turns out one of the batteries in the
grip had discharged but the meter was still showing full. other battery was
fine so I removed the "faulty" battery and kept shooting fine. I recharged
the "faulty" battery and everything appeared fine after that. anyone else
experience this?

unfortunately none of those are the one i'm looking for. If i can remember correctly their gallery started with 2 models crossing a river with a horse.

I appologize if this is the wrong forum for this post. I am looking to re-find
the gallery of a photo.net user. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name or
anything specific that has allowed me to track his/her gallery down. The only
things I can remember was that their gallery was of a decent size (100-
200images), they shot primarily outdoor nudes, and most of their folders were
named with the model name.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your responses. Just to clarify as I forgot to mention. I will not be the official photographer at these weddings. They are friends getting married and I figured this would be a good opertunity to get wedding experience without all of the pressure. I currently am not able to afford any new lenses so these would be strictly to rent.
Zofia Waig: would the 17-55DX lens be too much of a wide angle for a wedding/reception? I'm sure I would appreciate the wide angle at some points but I assume that I would want something capable of more zoom. Am I wrong?

Looking for suggestions of lenses to use for wedding photography. I currently
have a D200 w/ nikon 18-200VR. My thoughts were the 70-200 f/2.8 (thinking it
might be too much zoom) or the 28-70 f/2.8. Any other suggestions.
Part 2, Where in Vancouver, BC am I able to rent these lenses?

Its been 3 years since i've been on here. Film got to be too expensive to
shoot for just a hobby (I've been in college). I've now started a career and
got back into hobby photography. I don't have my camera yet but i have my eye
on a D200 and nikon 18-200 lens. I don't plan on stepping up to being a
Professional Photographer (so i hope i posted this in the right forum) but I
would like to look into selling some of my images that i do take.
My question is, besides friends and family, where are some places I can look
to sell my pictures. At this point i have NO experience selling pictures, I
know i won't be making very much from these, I'd just like to be pointed in
the right direction.
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

It started snowing today so i went out to take some pictures. whlie
taking pictures i realized i didn't exactly know what i was doing.
what are some techniques you have for shooting snow at night and
during the day? the things i've seen so far are that a decently fast
shutter (above 1/30), medium tele, and a fast film give good results.
majority of these shots will be b&w.
Also because it would be snowing when i'm taking pictures of snow
what would i have to do extra to take care of my camera?

I don't know what your overall goal is- money or 1 great lens. if you're kinda hooped on the $ side then i'd have to say that getting the 28-100mm AND 70-300mm will drop you around the same price or less than the 28-105mm. somebody correct me if i'm wrong. these lenses aren't the best but i have no complaints about the 28-100mm yet. I just started out with my f80 too and i think the 28-100 covers all my versitility... so far

I recently got a new f-80 with the 28-100mm lens and all's good. I'm
just wondering what are some of the must have filters that i should
look into getting. I'm looking into a circular polarizing filter but
after that i don't know much about filters. thanks for your
suggestions

I use Ilford delta 100 for most of my b&w shots now and kodak t-Max 400 for the rest. i haven't experimented with anything else mostly because i get these 2 films really cheap from my teacher.
