  1. I am one of the lucky person who can still have them shipped internationally.

The 120V - 220V issue still can be worked out with a step up/down transformer I believe.

However the modelling light is a household bulb. So I am afraid that you will have a problem if the one that goes with the original goes dead. You might have difficulty trying to find the 120V buld in your 220V neighborhood. I bought the 1600 (2 of them) and one of them dead.

Unless you can live without the modelling light, if you cannot find one in your market....

    salam,

  2. But high reflective subject at the background can look somewhat ugly with this lens stop down, as can be seen in the following picture (notice the dew reflection in the background which is not perfectly round due to the shape of the diaphragm), still taken with Tamron 90 f2.8 Macro Di.<div>00HDrC-31057984.jpg.b5fd9a854dc6b2a2bdfe75131749e8f2.jpg</div>
  3. Hi Albert,

I currently have the AFD 50 f1.4, AFD 85 f1.4 and Tamron 90 2.8 macro Di. I found that each lens has different purposes. I do not like the bokeh of the 50 1.4 as much as I admire the 85 1.4. That is why I purchased the 85 1.4. The Tamron 90 2.8 Di also has very very nice bokeh, provided that you shoot in short distance i.e. for macro. But using the Tamron for portraiture I would think that the DOF is not thin enough to throw out the background.

I do not have the 85 1.8 so I cannot comment.

This picture was taken with AFD 85 f1.4 @ 1.4<div>00HDqo-31057484.jpg.f47e9de73d51ab53bc3c1a995e4a6126.jpg</div>

  4. Terima kasih banyak (Thank You Very Much) for all the responses. I will post my final result once I photograph them.

Yes Tony, I am from Jakarta. That's about 500km from Yogyakarta (the name is quite similar) where the earthquake happened about a week ago. I agree with Brooke, your website is fantastic !!

Many thanks again for all of you wonderful people.

  5. I want to make a product shot of cold drinks and food such as Ice Cream,

Milkshake, Juices, etc. I would like to learn about it and have searched here

on the photo net discussion with no success.

What techniques that I should be aware of when making this product? For ice

cream shot, what should I do to get a mouthwatering effect and not to have the

    ice cream melted too fast?

Any suggestion for the lighting as well? I have two monobloc with one softbox

and a couple of umbrella. I also have the SB800 and a couple of manual Metz

flashes. The lens I consider to use is the Tamron 90 SP Macro Di attached to a

D2X. Any other suggestion for the equipment I should use especially the

    lighting?

I normally do portrait work not for product especially as tricky as ice cream.

I am doing this now for a friend who cannot afford the profesional who

normally do this kind of work. So I want to help this friend for free and I am

ready to do the best the I can.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

  6. I just purchased a new Tamron macro 90mm f2.8 SP Di (the newest

model type 272E). I just realized that I cannot always maintain f2.8

at all focus distance. The maximum aperture varies : 2.8 at infinity

and 5.6 at the closest distance. Is this normal? Is this behaviour

normal to all macro lens including nikkor 105 f2.8 and other brands?

I did not realised it since in macro shot I always using manual

exposure mode setting the aperture at above 11.

I wonder whether this contributes autofocus hunting when trying to

focus very near distance (almost at magnification 1:1).

I put this to Nikon forum since I use D2X.

    Thanks
