Hey all,
This was my first time shooting fireworks. I'd like to know if
there's anything I did wrong, or if there's any photo editing I could
do to improve it.
The image was shot in Raw (Sony ARW) and I used UFRaw as I'm currently
on Linux. Exposure time was 8 seconds at f/5.6 at ISO 100. I went
manual exposure on this one.
Thanks,
Dan

Hey all. Of all the non-family photos that I took at the beach house
this last summer, this one is my favorite.
The two boys out in the water are my two oldest nephews, they will
both be 9 soon. They went out there to wash off after a day playing
in the sand.

Hey all. This is a photo I took last Thanksgiving at my sister's
house. My eldest sister was playing the piano that night, so I set up
the tripod. I used a lens I got off eBay for $18, which was all I
could afford at the time.
I used the shutter cord to release the shutter and hoped for the best.
Timing was crititical, as I was using about 1/8th of a sec for
shutter speed. The only light that was shining directly on the
subject was the light for the sheet notes. There was a small amount
of ambient light coming from the kitchen.
I developed in in D76, but alas, I was new to the whole develop thing,
and left a lot of marks on the neg. I spent a good hour retouching
the photo, trying not to alter it.
Hope you like it,
Dan O.

Hey all. Maybe it's just me being an amatuer, but I really didn't expect to get ratings of only half the maximum.
What could be improved with this photo? Is it the sharpness? Is it the fact that the subject is a simple pepper plant?
I really thought that this photo was excellent in regards to light and shaddow. I also thought the composition was pretty good, especially the way I kept a shallow dof, and an almost plain background.
What can I do to improve?
Thanks,
Dan O.

Hey all. I took this photo in my father's garden around the time of
the golden hour. I realize that the whole plant isn't sharp, but I
really don't see a problem with that. What's important is that the
part that I focused on, the top leaves, are in focus.
It's one of the first images off my new Maxxum/Dynax 5. I really like
the thing.
Well, let me know what you think,
Dan O.
