  1. Luis, I use the rubber shades with my Nikon SLRs and agree that they are no problem with SLRs. Used with a rangefinder camera, the flared rubber shades block out nearly half of the viewfinder! Be happy that you have a retractable hood, it's the best invention since sliced bread for us rangefinder diehards. Best regards, Bill
  2. Emir, you say you've owned a Bessa in the past, so just go to a camera shop and examine the Zeiss Ikon. If it appears to be a rebadged Bessa ,as others have suggested, don't buy it. If you can recognize quality workmanship and design when you see it, buy the Zeiss Ikon! I have owned one for 2 years, and I love it. The viewfinder is the brightest around and the lighter weight is refreshing in the hand after a long day. It also offers some of the finest lenses to be had, at bargain prices! Best wishes, Bill
  3. Camila, I own a Zeiss T and a Summicron in 50mm focal length. Both are excellent lenses but I believe you could buy a new Zeiss for the price of a used Summicron, so if money is a big issue I would go with the Zeiss. Have you checked Popflash.com for Zeiss pricing? Best regards, Bill
  4. I prefer to use the built in shade. It's always ready and I've had no flare problems. I don't understand those who have flare issues with the retractable hood on a 50mm lens; perhaps they're astronomers photographing the sun. Yes, the hood retracts easily, so just don't push it! It can be easily extended again as well. You can always add another hood when you wish, but if you don't have the retractable hood, you might just find yourself with NO hood on occasion! Best wishes, Bill
