1.
Completely agree with Ellis. The parameters would help. Having said this, I really like Squarespace. Its scalar so you can take it from a basic personal portfolio site to a full professional site with e-commerce. Relatively cost effective and very very easy to use.

Good luck

  2.
Hi Greg
I haven't much experience in interior photography, or exterior for that matter. I shoot predominantly for the firm I work with and am looking to build my skill set further. I did toy with post processing the images with the distort command in Photoshop (they were not shot with a tilt-shift) however, the marketing department liked the dynamism of the forced perspective, Thank you for your comment. I will certainly try revising a few and post for comment, as I am trying to cater to this market.
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment.
Cheers
3.
PS the budding film makers out there have a an outstanding way to transition from photos to digital video. At first I though HD video was to a DSLR what a pop up flash was to a pro camera. IE the feature was there to appease the consumer while reviling the pro with it's inadequacy. Is the HD video as sophisticated or controlled as a stand-alone HD camcorder? It depends which camcorder,...entry level, consumer, prosumer, or pro ? ;-)
4.
As long as they still offer silver I'm good,....heeeeey, maybe they can resurrect the matching silver kit lenses,...hmmmmm.
Generally, the rebel series have the ability to make good-great images. For the majority of consumers and some advanced amateurs in a digital age, the print quality is starting to become less emphatic beyond 12x18 at 300dpi. Besides, won't we all be viewing our images on our new HD LED HDMI monitors, at 72 dpi? 18 mp offers an outstanding resolution and, of late, pretty good low light performance. The HD video rounds the camera out for families looking for technological convergence.
Things pros will require that T2i doesn't have? A more robust body, more shutter actuations, higher dynamic range, better low light /noise performance, more advanced auto focusing, 99% viewfinder coverage etc. More res depends on the type of pro.
These are what the odd soccer mom/dad can live without. Couple the t2i as a second body to a 7d with some good glass and you have a decent kit for a serious but amateur wedding photographer. I did say amateur,...so go easy on me..... ;-)
5.
Great points Kelly. I have since revised the colour scheme and the bios per the discussion above. I am currently working on the galleries and moving away from Flash. It corrects the annoying lag time mentioned above. It allows a Luddite like me a chance to add a "Back to ICPIX" link, and finally it will be more accessible to a larger variety of browsers and computer specs..
Beyond theses adjustments I will be reviewing a light colour theme and different fonts.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to look and assess.
Les no doubt the images have white balance all over the map. They were shot with several different cameras and half of them are actually film based. I think I will try to edit them to relate more consistently with one another. Hey but you go with what you have given a limited portfolio. I'm sure as we shoot more weddings and consistently process them with a refined workflow, they will align. We hope to do more.
Joseph. i'm hoping to avoid the use of porn on my wedding site, and alas shaving my head would result in no significant difference to my middle-aged image. Trust me the bios are meant purely as humor, and not market differentiation. The aesthetic is more consistent with industrial and architectural photography. I might set up a different template for the wedding side to address this. Everyone seems to consistently find the bios edgy so we will definitely look at this as well a more subtle colourations.
Thanks again!
7.
Charles and Janos
These are great observations and appreciated. As I am woefully unskilled in adobe flash I might have to change the gallery pages to a more conventional HTML page so I can place a "back" link. The blog is linked in the contacts page via an icon but probably not as strong as it should be. Yes, the Bios,.....are a little over the top. I think I will be undergoing a content review this month to adjust these things.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
8.
OK here is another humble request for input on our new website. Not looking for hits here. I truly would like any constructive criticism on our new site and blog. My partner and I have done some wedding photography and we've finally put our collective work on the web to expand our hobby into a profession. I have used an open source web template along with some flash galleries. Please have a look and let me know your thoughts. Photography is still a hobby for us but wed love to elevate it into something more.
The site is:
9.
Hi all
Before I go hog wild on spending cash, I need some advice. I have a 50D and a 430EX-I. I primarily am looking for an additional wedding flash PLUS the option to have both flashes in a studio setting.
- The primary question is will a Sigma DG Super 530 reliably trigger a 430EX or at all. (there was one reference to this on Fred Miranda but it was a little unclear)
- I assume no ETTL2 on the remote flash head if the 530 is the master and I know the 430 cant be a master.
- I believe the 530 is also an optical slave,... can anyone corroborate.
- Would two 530's be a better studio option (I have the opportunity to buy 2 Sigma's for the price on one Canon 580)
Any help is appreciated
10. I have gone from a 20d to 50d. This is a no brainer. Resolution aside, I would have thought that the advantage

of the 50d's sensor (given the density of pixels) might have is the ability to push the file further. Could be

that the price you pay is slight increase in noise. I also think that the file is generally more neutral

straight from the camera.. I too shoot RAW, but my frame of reference is the normative noise change from the 20

vs 50d ,.....,so its better. Add to this greater speed, DIGIC 4, great screen,..., I'm happy What is the real

functional difference between the 40 and 50d? Really. More post processing? If you have a 40d then be happy

the upgrade wasn't significant since you probably have had it less than a year.

  11. Hi all

Did a quick search and couldn't find a similar post.

I run both Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2. I recently upgraded to a Canon 50D & successfully upgraded to ACR 4.6

with CS3 following the instructions for the plug-in ,.....,but no such luck with Lightroom 2 ,....

I actually haven't a clue how to install the plug-in for Lightroom 2.

So now I can only process my Canon 50D files w/ camera raw on CS3 only. I have to resort to DNG format with

    Lightroom 2

    Any thoughts,....?

    Am I missing something simple?

(PS dont get me started on the Canon Raw codec for vista,.....)

    Any help appreciated

    Regards

    John

  12. I love my T90 and AE1 and had not used them for 6 years until just recently, just because of nostalgia.

I probably won't sell the gear and I'll have them as keep sakes. One or two rolls a year,...., that is if I can still find film ,..., They can still rock the film world,.....

It's pretty bitter sweet to have the old FD based equipment. The market has brutally valued them so selling them seems a waste. They have too much sentimental value.
