    Godzilla

          3

As said elsewhere, I find that it looks more like a horse playing in water than Godzilla! The position of the shade is really matching the way the water is thrown in the air. Well done for spotting this one.

The whole background is a little distracting, but at the same time, I guess you needed to have a somewhat dark background to be able to make the shape and water stand out as you did here.

What kind of lightning was there? Sun or some other artificial light. From the direction, I guess it is the sun, but the shadowed area is making me doubt. Unless I'm not looking at it the right way. I will look tonight on a better screen and see if I need to revise my comment.

I like a lot the movement you captured here. Very Basketball like. Regarding the composition, I think I wouldn't change a thing. Enough is shown to understand what is happening, and each elements present has enough breathing space.

I would like to see this one in color. Don't get me wrong here, B&W works very well. However, I do think that colors could put even more emphasis on the action and create more dynamism. At least IMO. I do prefer B&W where strong emotion or feeling can be express and I don't this this photo is one of those.

That being said, still a very nice photo and a good theme match.

Hey Seven, I see you trained birds to throw stones in water to get circles. Nice way to duplicate my original idea!

Knicki, so you can come and visit me soon here on PT, I removed all but one bird photo! You will then be able to resume your little visits to the place of this French Canadian!

It's just that currently, I'm having fun spending my time stuck on the highway, dodging falling overpass! No more time for photo. Heck, I will miss the whole Fall season.

  1. Thanks for the comment Philippe. I was really lucky to have a nice view through the window. It was not much dirty so I had just a little cleaning to do on one small spot in the sky. And I think that because it was shot really early in the morning, the window came out really clean. I guess I've been lucky!

I had fun doing those photo as I had no tripod with me. So I had to pile the chairs in found in the hotel room in order to have my camera rest on something (relatively) stable!

  2. Thanks Pnina for the comment! And for the word in my language.

The sun's ray were what attracted my eye here. It's the same time of the year again. I really think I will try to find this place again this year. Or something like it. Just have to kick me at the right place these days as I'm not too much into photo.

On another note, I find it special how a really old photo starts to attract comments again. Kind of remind me that my newer "junk" was shadowing my old stuff. Now that I removed a lot, my better one get more visibility!

    Hi John,

as you can see, I still look as often as possible at your photo! Just not too much in the mood of giving long and thought comments these days.

Regarding a software for selecting/comparing photo, I use FastStone viewer, which I like very much. A small and free software that does all I want. I find it useful in selecting between similar images by showing them side by side.

More of me when I feel better!

I guess he is saying that there is no cloning done here. All that you see in this photo is what was recorded by the camera. However, he did use some saturation and painting with light technique. In a good way.

I do find this photo absolutely impressive. You have developed a nice style. You do work on you photo digitally, but it is done in a very nice way and even after the work, this is still a photo to me.

Very nice work Rarindra. I would like to be able to have just one like this myself!

Very nice patterns and texture. You had a good light and have well captured it.

Maybe it could also look nice if we could see a little more the circles in the sand, which mean showing more at the top and bottom. You know better than me how the scene was looking like.

Finally, I think it could look great in B&W. I'm a fan of B&W photos, so I might be biased here!

  3. A neat way to present a photo. I like the idea. And the photo itself is pretty nice. Did you tried to mirror some of the photo so sometimes you have the lighthouse on the right and sometimes on the left? I think this could look pretty nice.

The only reason why I would not hang something like this one is that I find the proportion of the final presentation are not really suited for presentation on a regular wall. What I mean is that it is too large versus the height. The same reason why I don't really appreciate hanging panoramas. They just take too much place. To hang, I would cut to just 3 columns. But on the web, I find it works well as is.

Very interesting way to photograph the brothers. Maybe a little more space on the left and bottom would make it look even better. Also, I think you should try to avoid the water(?) on the top left.

    The Oak

Very interesting tree. I'm not totally sure about the toning. I think a contrasty B&W rendition could look better, but this is just my opinion and personal taste!

One thing I really like a little less is the lack of space around the tree. I would prefer to see that it had some space for "growing". A little more of the foreground could also be interesting.

I also like better ONYO version, because of the reasons he stated. But still, overall, you nailed the exposure and choice of subject, so kudos for this!

As per theme fit, it is excellent. And with some little modifications, it is a shot that could look nice hanged on a wall.

    texture

Yes, more contrast is needed. You have a very nice texture in this one, and I think the nice patterns you have would benefit some contrast.

Add a tad of blue here and there, plus the contrast, and you have a nice representation of the earth seen from the space. Looks like the satellite views on Google Maps.

Overall, nice find and good theme fit PT.

    texture

Hum, this looks like a ride in a car-wash! Of course, there is texture here so it is a match to the theme. However, I find it is missing something to keep the interest a little longer. Maybe something stuck on the glass on the top right, where you have more light?

Now this is an interesting one. I like the texture a lot. And a very cleaver title PT!

I like the soft colors and the partial transparentness of the leaf. I also like the composition as is, but also like the suggestion made by Seven.

Interesting experimentation PT. Creating texture this way is something I would not have thought about.

But to be honest, I would not hang this photo. By that, I mean that I don't think it works that well as a photo outside of this theme. I guess that playing with some elements in PShop, like removing the magenta cast, and increasing contrast locally could make it better. Right now, I find it is half way between a shot taken by mistake, and a deliberated work of art. You have to make it more look like a painting I think.

I also think that a better light on the elements would make the texture come out more easily. Right now, the right side seems to have too much light on it, thus the details are lost a little.
