I recently purchased a shutter speed checker from Calumet. Quite amazing
how almost every lens I own deviates from the speed set on the shutter. The
biggest variation came from a brand new Nikon 90mm f4.5 lens in Copal
shutter that I tested right out of the box. 2/3 stop overexposed using 1/500 @
f16. (i.e. 1/500 setting is actually 1/280) I see variation (all slower) on almost
every shutter I've tested, the degree of which increases as the shutter speed
increases. When shooting low speed chromes (Velvia) this deviation would
make a considerable difference in exposure accuracy.

Fotoman Camera is now producing affordable, high quality 6x12 & 6x17 cameras,
with several new models in the design stage; 6x24 4x5 8x10

I am now manufacturing and selling the Fotoman 612W, which will debut at
Photokina this fall... CNC machined from T6061 Aluminum, this 6x12 comes
fully equiped for US$ 1249.00 (body, helical focusing mount, lens cone and
matching finder) for the SA58XL, or any 65mm lens that covers 6x12. In "35"
terms the 58XL equals a 19MM lens, and a 65 equals a 21mm... wide enough
for your needs?

Hi Tal,
can't help with components, but I am launching a new camera line, FOTOMAN
(will debut at Photokina this fall). Our offerings include a 6x12, 6x17, and 4x5,
all of which have integral optical finders and helical focusing. All models are
CNC machined from solid blocks of T6061 aluminum. The Fotoman 612W
accepts either a 58 or 65mm lens from any manufacturer... Retail price
complete (body, finder, helical focus mount and lens cone matching your
lens) is US$ 1249.00... drop me a line if you would have any interest.<div></div>

I recently purchased a used Sinar Zoom Back, without the manual... anybody
have one?

I had the same observation with my 75mm lens. Had it CLA'd in Hong Kong
for about $50, and it's perfect now. The technician told me ther was a small
amount of oxidation on the blades, which once removed brought the lens
back to perfect performance.

Hi all
I'm new to the forum... Love my VHR system which I would like to expand on.
Question is... can a Horseman VHR focusing cam be used for an equal focal
length lens which is NOT a Horseman lens? Also, is there a current source for
focusing cams?
Point and shoot... sort of...

To answer a few of the questions raised in the postings... A GG is available, but as the
camera has no removable back it must be inserted prior to loading film. There are two
extra shoes on the 617 and one extra on the 612. The cameras are CNC machined.
Regarding size... the 612 measures 22cm wide, 10.45cm high, and 13cm deep (complete
with finder and 65mm f4.5 Grandagon attached). The 617 measures 26cm wide, 10.45cm
high, and 16cm deep (complete with finder and 90mm f4.5 Nikon attached). Both models
are 6cm deep including handgrips (4.2cm without grip) with no lens cone attached.
