I love the pose of the subject (and the expression on her face...it's great!) The foreground composition with the stairs and the texture of the cement is really interesting to me. I'm not too fond of the washed out sky, though.

Interesting shot. I think it's a bit dark, personally. B&W a good choice. Sorry, but this doesn't do much for me, and I can't really explain why. I think that I don't see any coherent composition here. But I might be missing something - wouldn't be the first time.

Nice composition. I like the sand, shallow, then next wave of water - kind of cuts the foreground into thirds. The footprints are really cool, too - leads my eye out to the bridge and helps frame the photo. I love the colors in the sky, too - the only problem is that the sky is somewhat blown out- the white is killing my eyes. If you can fix that, this is a really nice photo.

Subtle, and very elegant. Nice sharp photo, sepia is a really nice choice. The lighting for this type of shot is, IMHO, perfect - looks like available light? Somehow I doubt it. The composition is wonderful. There's a lot to look at if you just take your time - everything very carefully arranged. Very nicely crafted photograph.

...a nice shot on what looks like an overcast day. There is a great mood to this photo, as a previous post mentioned. Very nicely framed. If I were to suggest anything, maybe crop just a tad off the left of the photo. Just curious...were you waiting for the water to crest? Looks like you caught it at a really good time.

    Really nice!

  1. Hi! I like the composition; the way things flow, for me anyway, from left to right, to the flags. My only wish is that something else was going on in the photo. I know you can't manufacture people (well, these days, maybe, with PS ;) but maybe if you'd waited longer maybe a few folks would've shown up, or something would've happened to make the photo a bit more interesting. Also, I think the lighting is OK, but maybe a different time of day would've made it more interesting. Just suggestions...thanks for putting this out here!

The subject is absolutely great! The gentleman looks very comfortable looking at the camera. I think you nailed the exposure. DOF is perfect. And the blue, to me, complements everything beautifully.

    Excellent!

I've got to agree with Birte, but I didn't notice it (focus) until I looked at the larger version of the photo. I didn't think the red was a problem, either. Personally, I think it's fine as is.

My first reaction is to duck :)

I just looked down the wonderful photos whose photogs. requested critiques. Very fine photos, all of them! This one, in my humble opinion, is the most original. I like the line and the spray...gross, but very nice visually!

    Thank you...keep up the experimentation!
