  1. After wasting a fair number of moon shots during the night of the

total eclipse, I convinced myself and installed the Wasia hack in

order to get a working MLU... tonight I tested the usefulness of this

    feature.

I shot a bridge at night (8sec exposure) 5 times without MLU, and 5

times with MLU and a programmed delay of 3 and 6 seconds.

This is an unprocessed 100% crop of a shot without MLU:

Other interesting notes: the two 5 shot group produced consistent

results, and there is no apparent difference between 3s and 6s MLU

delay. Finally, I also tried repeating the same tests using a cheap

Slik tripod, and the difference is amazing! No MLU and then MLU(6s)

    are here shown:

I really couldn't be happier about the FW hack...thanks Wasia!

    Hope this helps,

  2. I tried this lens for a day, more or less a year ago, on a EOS Elan: very sharp lens, but I didn't buy for 1) slow and noisy focusing 2) price (the shop that had it was selling it for $375) 3) rotating front element. I ended up getting a 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 for less than half the price, and I'm very happy with it...

  3. I got one not too long ago for $75 from a local store, it had

an issue with the dial but it was pretty easy to fix (even

if opening a camera for the first time made me sweat a little...).

The real problem I had is/was with the shutter bumper: last summer

I had to leave the camera in my car, and the heat must have caused

the rubber to become sticky... a lot of patience and q-tips + ethanol

seem to have done the trick though.
