Super cool to hear all your stories. I joined much later, back in 2003. That was a fun time!

A golden-crowned kinglet, shot yesterday. Trying out my new D500 and 300/4 PF combo around the stormwater ponds in my area (GTA, Canada). This little one was just 2m away from me!

For me, the Tamron 90/2.8 and the Sigma 30/1.4 DX; the former is a truly outstanding lens in terms of IQ (bokeh, sharpness), but lacks in built quality. The latter is worth mentioning for its wider aperture performance.

Yes, if thats the current price, then get a new D80 (if you don't have the bucks for the D90)...but my point is, if you are planning to get the D90, and are not too crazy about D90's movie mode, then you can get a much better camera than D80/D90 for only $300 more...

I have the D80 and mine doesn't suffer from any metering problem.
I would get a second hand D80 (US$450) or a second hand D300 (US$1300) and skip the D90 (new, US$1000) -- all prices from keh.com (LN- grade).

I keep shooting...I waste a lot of frames, but I don't bother developing those (during these times)...unless I know there is a keeper...

you might as well try a point and shoot digi and not bother with the technical side of photography for a while...
