    Pelican on beach

          2
I assume the sparrow is the main subject.. U should therefore have used a longer tele on a tripod, maybe 300mm and stuck the fellow near the middle. Not enough detail on the sparrow for clarity. Now I just see the surf, with some distraction to the right...If the pelican, can hold more in his beak than his belly-can, we want to see that clearly..

Imagine if u had waited for the sun to come out and light up the flowers and stone(?).. I think these colors need sun to get super saturation. If it is sunlit, u need Zeiss glass to show it!
  1. To make the shot extra-ordinary, at f1.4 on say an 85mm lens, would have put the petals out of focus and concentrated on a main subject, the innermost seed colors/designs, also maybe throwing out of focus the two concentric orange/orange brown foreground rings..The composition is now not clear and simple..It is ordinary..
  2. Interesting, clear composition, but what if... the sun hit that wall and then we got beautiful shadows from the leaves, and more brilliant wall color/texture... Does the sun ever shine in Bucharest, it does here in Vienna!!

Imagine the sun hitting the 'wheel' from a low angle, bringing out the oxide colors, and casting strong latera BLACK shadows..That would have made it more 'alive'. Otherwise ..composition is interesting with

strong angles complementing the curves, and the metal against the wood. Clear and simple..

I wonder if Beechcraft painted that one with pretty colors, because if u had shot in color, then we may have had a super contrast with the color of the hangar doors..And that would have made it an extraordinary shot, not an ordinary shot..Is there no color left in Texas or are u afraid of that art form?? BW seem to remind me of night shots in cemeteries... Here in Vienna the colors are beautiful, from the sun or even the neon at night..Todays negative films, such as Agfa Ultra 100, or Fuji slides are stunning...

    reeds

Imagine if the same black reeds were shown against a COLORED sunset, with the sun just touching the horizon. Dont be afraid of color, we live in a beautifully colored world, whethet from the sun, or the neon at night. Try a reshoot of exactly the same subject and location, and..if that is to the west, the sunset, or an early sunrise if it is to the east..The grasses/reeds are well balanced.

    Foggy Golden Gate

To make it a simple, clear and strict composition, which makes it a great photo, crop across to the right from the top of the roof on the extreme left house.. till u hit the first high palm tree.. and then up to the top of the pix. You now have a foggy bridge, with some pretty cirrus cloud..otherwise we have too much,a pretty house, with a large field as the main subject.. some bridge in the background etc etc

    The Wall

Maybe two separate photos, one just up to the window, gets the lamp as the main subject, and has the two leaf colors in, and the other shot... just up to the lamp to give the window the main subject posn. Having two blobs of white not quite balancing is not strict enough composition..and feels a little confusing. See photos4u.dk for more ideas

    Old terrace ...

good composition is CLARITY, not made up rules of lines and thirds and lead ins and other mumbo jumbo...How about f2 to soften the tree that is growing through her left hand and the leaves growing out of the side of her right hip, never mind the mumbo jumbo...
