I took ownership of a Microtek i900 scanner. I would like to use vuescan; but, vuescan
does not find my scanner. I tried USB and Firewire ports and same result. This scanner
works fine w/ Silver Fast and the Microtek supplied software. Tried this configuration on a
iBook 12" and a PowerBook 12" both w/ OS X 10.3.7 no luck. Has anyone been able to get
this scanner to work w/ either configuration.

counter wheel. Took < 10 minutes / holder...

I have 3 Grafmatics that are sitting on a shelf. I would like to use them but don't because
the frame number in the image area drives me nuts . Is there a way to remove the frame
counter w/out damaging it or the holder?

I just tested FP4 w/ this developer. In General I'm pleased with the results; however, I did
notice some flaws on a few frames. I noticed streaks in some of the VI, VII, and VIII
densities. I did some research in this forum and most suggested that the problem could be
agitation. I'm still puzzled because I processed the film for 3min. in each bath in a JOBO
w/ continuos agitation. I used the the classic formula metol and sodium sulfite in bath A
and borax in bath B. I also notice that there are several other formulas that do the same
thing. Is it possible that the other formulas could aid in preventing the streaks?
Thanks

I own the current Elmar M 50mm f2.8 (chrome). It is the second lens that I purchased for
the M system. I also own the 50mm F2 but rarely use it. I initally went w/ the Elmar
because of it's compact size. Later purchased the 50 'Cron because I wanted the extra
stop. As it turns out I favor the ergonomics and compactness of the Elmar more than the
extra stop I get w/ the 50 'Cron. As a bonus the Elmar 50mm looks better on my silver M6.
As far as image quality, I have never done any critical testing between the two lenses;
however, I'm very happy with the results from the Elmar and have never seen in any way
that the results are inferior to the 50mm 'Cron. Both lenses produce great results. below
are links to two images that were made with the Elmar 50mm...

It looks like light has struck the film at some point. You ruled out the camera and the
tanks. Have you checked your changing bag or the room that you load your film in for
light leaks?

I recently aquried a Leitz Focomat IIa. The enlarger is complete w/ the exception of
the neg. carrier masks. I plan to search for the original masks; however, until I find
them I'll need to find another (temporary) solution. My question is, how are the masks
used w/ this enlarger? i.e are the masks placed under the carrier or do they fit
between the glass? I'm thinking of making some temporary masks from rubylith(sp).
Any advise is appreciated and I open to suggestions...
Thanks

You may want to look at the Deardorff "4x5 Special" as it will also accept a 5x7 back. I don't know the actual weight of the camera, It does not feel much heavier than my Speed Graphic (about 6.5lbs).
