The lighting is flat and uninteresting. Someone cut off her left arm. The apple is out of focus and the background is chaotic and competing for attention.

Yes, putting the horizon in the middle works here because the flowers have more visual weight than the sky. 2 great shots from one copse of trees, bravo! -

The light was coming from behind the "black box" on the left, above the door. There is also a flood light behind and above the camera
(BTW the "black box" had more shadow detail in the original print).
