This past weekend I saw some work done from infrared film....I've
been trying to do some research on it, but can't quite understand
what I've found. What is this film, what does it do? What type of
filter do you need on your camera when using this film? Is the
processing different? Just the general info is what I'm in search
of. Thanks.

I've always used d-76 for my film (35 mm and 120 only, I use HC-110 for my 4x5's) We were taught to dilute it, then I realized the only reason we were taught that, was because it was better "economically". After a while I didn't care and just used it straight, took up less time. I've always thought that I've gotten good results w/ D-76, even when I diluted it, but what do I know? I might start using Rodinal this year, I need a change....
As for what Patrick stated about the mixing of chemicals on accident and not telling anyone, I share the responsibility of changing and mixing the chemicals in our lab, and I noticed many times that the students that do such a thing, are the ones that lack regard, I also noticed those are the students who take photography because they claim it will be an easy A (I've actually heard this). So sad...

Bas- can you recommend any? Thanks.

I have absolutely no digital under my belt, for 4 years now I've done
all traditional (processing, developing, etc myself). I want to
learn the basics, however I need to start out slow, everyday a new
digital camera comes out, and some other component is invented. My
question is, what would be a good digital camera, that will last a
long time, and keep me up-to-date as the years go on (if that's
possible). Also, what about books to help me out? I appreciate any
help I can get. Thanks! Chrissy

I don't quite understand the concept of setting your ISO speed on the
camera different then the ISO speed of the film? What does this
achieve when you do so?
Thanks!

I'm going to a Cleveland Indians game tonight and I want to take my
Holga, figure I could get some interesting stuff of the stadium w/
the lil guy, however I what sort of film should I take. Right now on
hand I only have Ilford PanF 50 and Agfa ISO 100. And T-max 400 but
I really don't enjoy using that film. What sort of results would I
get from the Ilford 50 or Agfa 100? Or should I just go to Dodd's
and buy some Tri-X? Thanks for the help!

I recieved my Holga today, very interesting, I've been hearing about
Holga's since I entered college, but never actually saw one, no I
take that back, I saw someone make a Pinhole out of a Holga, very
neat. Anyway, I know these are supposed to produce 'dreamy like'
images (as stated by the seller), but are there any tricks anyone
uses to produce even more interesting results from this camera?
Thanks!

So what will happen when you develope Fuji Neopan 1600 in D-76 or HC-110? Will you get fine, but noticable grain?

I purchased a 110 camera at a Goodwill store for my mixed media
class, and so I'm bidding on some 110 film and I noticed it says that
the expiration date was 7/00. I know I can still use this film, but
is there anything different I should do when I'm developing it? I
really don't care if I get super funky results because it's a mixed
media class (ie: you work mainly in your major study) so funky
results is somewhat of what I'll want.
Thanks!

I just purchased a Rollfim 6x6/645 camera off ebay, brand new, never
used. Has anyone had any experience w/ such a camera? Just
wondering what results I should expect. I use a Rolleicord now, and
I came across this camera online and just decided what the hell and
purchased it. Any feedback welcome! thanks

I really enjoy taking studio pictures, however I have always used
natural light. I cannot afford a strobe or any fancy dancy
equipment...has anyone ever just used a straight lamp or any other
lights that worked well? This may seem hokey but I was just
wondering if it's possible?

Hello all! I'd appreciate any help I can get on this subject...I
want to push grain to the max when I take pictures. I've been using
Tri-X, which I've been told will give me great grain, and so far it
has, but when I return back to school this fall, I would like more
grain, I've been told to heat up the developer to 75 or even 80
degrees (F), has anyone ever tried this? Has anyone ever used any
other films or film speeds and gotten great grain results? Thanks!
Rollei problem...
in Medium Format

I am in need of a desperate cleaning of my Rollei, however, the
person that owned it before me skimmed the top of the (very very very
tiny) screws on the viewfinder, and nobody can get them off! I am
able to take pictures fine and accurately, however, I would like to
see my entire ground glass, not just the center. I've attempted to
take it to a professional, however he sent it back because he
couldn't get the screws off. Any suggestions, or is this a hopeless
case?
