1. This has a painterly quality which I greatly admire in landscape photos -- and very rarely see. Nice work!
 2.
Nice work Cory. Alas I couldn't find the equivalent to that "colorize" in Gimp, so I ended up mostly using the clone tool. Finished result, at least for now:

 3.
Hi all,
I'm in the process of scanning a collection of prints shot with a 35mm camera twelve or so years ago. The one below I rather like, but I'd like to get rid of the bluish lens flare. I know that lens flare has its charms at times but here it seems obtrusive.
What is the best way to remove it in post-processing? I use Gimp, but if you explain the steps in Photoshop, I can probably figure out how to do the equivalent.
If you think I should leave it as is, feel free to say so!

 4.
I'm pretty sure the Epson software is Windows/Mac only. I'm running Linux, meaning xsane and VueScan are my two options, AFAIK.

 5.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have a much older Epson scanner here, the Perfection 2400, which has some other issues, but if I scan the exact same picture as above I don't see the artifacts. I can't help but wonder whether the ICE/infrared stuff on the V550 is somehow interfering, even though I haven't explicitly activated it. Plus, I thought it was just for slides and negatives.
I am reluctant to write to Ed Hamrick as I don't think it is a problem specifically related to VueScan.

 6.
Hi all,
I have a new scanner, an Epson V550, with which I a currently scanning a collection of prints, mostly 7x12cm which I took around ten years ago. For the most part I am rather happy with the results I am getting with the Epson, which I am using in conjunction with VueScan under Linux.
There is however one problem which keeps cropping up. I keep getting these weird spotches in light areas, usually in clouds. Here is an example:

1. This isn't on the photograph
2. This isn't on the scanner glass
3. If I make a scan without anything on the glass, just white background, it doesn't appear.
4. If I move the photo to a different position on the glass, or rotate it, it still appears.
5. If I use xsane instead of VueScan, it also appears.

I can't for the life of me figure out what the heck is going on here.
Any ideas?
I am pretty skilled with the clone tool in Gimp, but that is way too much work ;)
Thanks
