Leica MP vs.Voigtlander R2 I Prefer R2! in Leica and Rangefinders Posted June 9, 2003 I see many people talks about the MP on the forum. However, not many of you think of the voigtlander R2. R2 is a much cheaper camera and well built in japan. Not as solid as MP but if the camera breaks, you can still get another one new and two R2 only costs US$900-1000. The only weakness is the shutter a bit noiseily. The 1/125 sec flash sync and the loading film process are much much better than any Leica M. I found that Leica new body is their old body. Not much improvement. Ask yourself, how many times you get frustrated when you try to load the film. Ask yourself, how many times you want to use daylight fill flash with a wide aperature. The only thing I like to use R2 RF is to take the advantages to use the Leica Lens. (With the exception of Dual Range). I still prefer Leica SLR series for serious shooting. Collapse lens are possible to use but need to becareful for not collapse the lens too deep for the Elmar 50mm lens. I am not sure about the collapse lens but that's what I heard. Any fans can confirm the Elmar F2.8 50mm whether it is able to collapse fully or not?
