Did you put the crumbs there? If yes that's just brilliant (and if not, its brilliant to have seen that :)!! It creates a lead from the eye-catching white leaf on the dark step down the stairs to where the yourney goes (and someone has gone before..).

    Very nice! Thanks for sharing

    Looking up

I like the way the colors are distributed (the red stones, the blue water and the yellow of the swimsuit, they make a nice color-composition). As a consequence, I would have liked the red a bit brighter (more illuminated). As for cropping: I think an exactly symmetrical cropping (right and left hands equal) would enhance the strong symetrical conmposition.

I really like the photo, nicely done (and a nice subject too :)

  1. Chasing camels! An extremely unrewarding job :)

I think the man is essential to the picture, otherwise it would be a completely different shot and - in my opinion, please forgive me - would lack something that makes it stand out, as my stubborn mind would automatically conjure up images of strings of camels along a spectacular barchan dune in the sunset to compare this one with.

But with the man I instantly ask myself what the story behind this might be? I feel pity for him, as he has to walk instead of riding his(?) camels. Has the herd run of? Is it just concidence? Is it a persistent photographer trying to get close enough for camel portraits? Well you see, I think the man makes the picture...

  2. First I thought the lizard should be on the right side, facing into the picture, but then I realized that as it is, he sort of looks back to where he just crossed and I think this is a lot better than my initial thought :)

Kudos for the excellent picture! Keep up the good work!

I am sorry, but to me the top/bottom sections spoil the shot completely.

Otherwise it would be a nice capture, as the bird seems to pose with his head slightly bent and having a very watchful eye on you.

I like the harmony of colors, almost an abstract study in colors :) That said, I would loose the blue spot on the right (flare? background?) as I think the bird should be the only non-red/brown spot in the picture. Excellent picture!
  3. Looking at the thumbnail, I thought this was some sort of sculpture, but seeing the actual picture with the book pleases me even more!

The picture is a very nice blend of abstract (book silhouette) and nature (sky), and is more or less perfect. The only thing I might add is, that perhaps a little less exposure might have worked even more towards that "abstract/nature" aspect, by turning the book even more into a silhouette (but it must not turn into a pure black silhouette) and reducing the slight overexposure in the sky on the left side.

But nevertheless I like this picture extremely much! Kudos!

A few points that immediately struck my eye:

    - The background lines convey a sense of dynamics, motion towards some point far off to the left. Unfortunately, this momentum is somewhat broken by the line of bolts at the left side of the shot, perhaps it might work better for me if these were cropped.

    - The face is very slightly out of focus, I am unsure whether this disturbs me or adds to the feeling of motion... perhaps an idea for another shot would be to have him look intensely towards that unseen point... afraid of what's coming or longing for something far off or.. well whatever.. :)

    - the bolt close to his mouth: I think my first thought was that it looks a bit like the microphone of a headset and thus works with the overall-style jacket, but the longer I see it, the more I think it disturbs the picture by drawing my eye towards it.

    - I like the lighting, expecially on the background and I think the completely dark shadows on the right works well.
