  1. Refresh rate was always at 85hz. My current viewsonic (pf775, which is a great monitor) has a focus control which I can simulate the effect on it by throwing the focus out of whack. But there is no focus control on the NEC. Which to me, seems like something wasn't aligned right or got knocked out of whack. I didn't think much of it before, but on the bottom of this supposedly "brand new" monitor. There is a bunch of scuff/scrape marks.

I think something must have happened to this monitor, whether it resulted from a random defect or whatever caused the scrapes on the bottom. But I have to say too, I'm surprised NEC is so highly regarded for monitors. I don't see why. The manuals for their controls are vague and don't really say anything about the control. With the pf775 I just realized the amount of controls it had and I've had it for 2 years now! Reason? The Viewsonic worked great right out of the box, plug it in, adjust resolution/refresh rates, load a profile, slight adjustment of screen size and I was off and going. A quality monitor to me isn't one you have to spend half the day fiddling with controls to get an acceptable image. So I have a PF95+B coming tomorrow, the NEC is going back. I was just curious if anyone has run into this before. Thank you for your help though.

  2. It has a Linearity control which makes sure spacing is the same throughout the display. And the Convergence control. There is another control called Moire Canceler to try and take out wavy lines. Setting the Moire Canceler to 0 helps with the text a little but it's still enough to give you a headache working with it any length of time. Aside from that there are other problems too. I can't load a profile for it in Adobe Gamma. Tells me the monitor profile for this is not a legal RGB profile. I would think too with some adjustments the geometry of the image would be a bit better. Especially on the "recommended" resolution. But my junky 5 year old Mag-innovision had less distortion than this. Thank you.

  3. Hello,

I was very excited about getting my FP912SB today. So I hook it up,

do some adjustments. And that's all I've been doing for the past 4 or

5 hours is adjusting. I cannot get any text that's on the screen to

not be blurry. Whether it's at the edges of the screen or right in

the middle. It's all blurry. Even more so when it's

selected/highlighted. I've tried running the monitor at 1280x960,

    1280x1024 and 1600x1200. All at 85hz and 32bit. I've also tried

adjusting font sizes in Windows 2000. Nothing is working.

So my question is, does anyone else notice this on their monitors? I

was going to go with the Viewsonic Pf95+B, but I saw a lot of praise

on here for the FP912. So I don't know if I just got a defective

monitor or people just deal with it? Thanks.
