I read somewhere that x-series flashes won't work with my Maxxum 5.
I have a 2000xi. Does the "x" denote bad news for me, then?

I have a 28-80mm zoom, and plan to get a wider-angle lens, mostly for
landscape shots. The two lenses under consideration are 20mm fixed
and a 19-35mm zoom. The fixed on ebay are usually more expensive
than a the zooms, but is there any advantage that outweighs the
expense (low $200s for the 20mm vs. about $140-150 for the zoom)? I
also am wondering because there would only be 21mm through 27mm
missed.
Fisheyes: I see fish-eye attachments for about $60 vs. true fish-eyes
for about $250. What about differences there?
Upcoming trips: Barrie, ON and Niagara Falls; southern FL and the
Carribean; and Hawaii.

I'm not able to follow many links on the site, and so searching for answers doesn't always work. I'm going to try a new browser, because I've not been able to follow many links that I'm sure would be very helpful.
My experience with cameras is limited to my old Maxxum 300si and now my Maxxum 5, so sometimes I'm limited in my ability to frame a good question. Is it just a Minolta thing, or do other SLRs of the same general type also have the problem of not being capable of attaching studio flash?

I saw something called OS 1100 online. It looks like what I'm looking for, but it doesn't list the Maxxum 5. Is this the item?

I have a Maxxum 5. Is there an adapter to allow a wider range of
flash accessories, such as studio flash (those umbrella types), a
hand-held type on a coiled cord, etc.? I don't see Minolta flashes
like that.

How do the Minolta-branded lenses compare to Vivitar, etc? I'm
looking into a 19-35mm zoom for my Maxxum 5.

I'm looking for a basic chart that shows how big a print someone
could get from various megapixel ratings at certain ISOs...that sort
of thing. I know it could only be basic, as sensor sizes, etc., on
cameras makes a difference, but I just need a basic idea. Thanks!

Actually, taking pictures in the dark like that makes sense! I like it!

First, I am interested in taking photos of the inside of my house. I
want them to turn out really nice. Is there a type of flash for the
camera (Maxxum 5) that will throw the light more to the sides, where
I've noticed my small auxilliary (2000xi) flash seems to miss, or
will I have to resort to a couple of small flashes and umbrellas?
Second, how far above the camera does a flash have to be to avoid red-
eye? (same camera as above) The informal shots I took at my
daughter's wedding before the ceremony (the bridesmaids having fun
with the event, etc.) had serious red-eye problems, but I used just
the on-board flash. Will my 2000xi be far enough away, or do I need
a taller one?

I own a Maxxum 5. p.84 of the manual uses a snow shot as an example
of using the Ev +2 to compensate for the brightness of the snow.
Would someone go -2 (or some other amount) if taking a picture in dim
light to get the picture to be brighter, or am I misunderstanding the
concept?

Hunting with a mousetrap? When the founding fathers laid out the map of the nation, they lifted it up on the eastern seaboard, and everything loose slid to California...
Why take photos?

I love beauty, and have a bit of a artistic/creative desire, but have to label my stick figures so people can recognize them. A photograph looks pretty much like the subject being shot. It is more a matter of seeing something already evocative, then capturing that. I also like capturing something I'm seeing to share with others.
And it's fun!
