1.
Thanks a lot for your post, LEX

I will do my homework now. Reading the other posts I'm stuck with another problem - I shoot RAW to process, JPG (basic) to have a quick look in a PC. Due to that, I use Active D lightning auto.
But if it impacts the RAW files (darker) I should turn it off. But then JPG won´t look as good as could...
Compromises, compromises...

 2.
I usually use auto development as a first step, then do a manual adjustment to print the images. In the screen, to my eyes, LR make them a somewhat too light (my IPS monitor is calibrated using Win 7 adjustments, I have no other mean to adjust it).
The histogram most of the times shows room to the right, less after LR auto adjust.
Should I use the camera's or LR one?

 3.
Hello,
Both in my D7100 and an older D90 Lightroom auto development increases the exposure of nearly all my photos by some 0.5 EV (NEF files). Is that usual or my cameras have some problem?

Thanks,

 4.
Yes, there´s a black/grayscale option. I´ve printed 2 photos using this option - a color one and another one converted to B&W using DXO film pack.
The color photo tone looks like black ink only, but the B&W one looks like colors mixed together to produce black - there´s a blue tint to it.
In the 4 colors printers I had before, unless one would set the printer for black ink only the blacks were this mix of colors to produce a tinted black.

 5.
I have a D90. I really dislike the (matrix mode) light meter overexposure in contrasty scenes. Search the forum and you will find postings on it.

 6.
Michael
Just a quick update:
I've read your links and posted a question in the Flickr group. No reply up to now.
I will test my camera with a friend's Nikon flash. I could not locate another YN465 in the town I live.
I will let you know how it goes.

 7.
Hello, Michael
Thanks for your help.

The reason I've posted the photo was to show I only use a fash as a last resourece, so spending a bundle in a high priced unit doesn't makes sense to me, if I can find a lower priced alternative.

The behaviour of the YN465 is repetitive - it always produces heavily underexposed photos.
If I fire the flash using the test button in TTL mode, it produces a very dim light (not so in manual mode and high power).
When I use it in the camera, the light is as dim to my eye, whatever the camera setting may be.

Take care,

 8.
Guys
I avoid using a flash as much as possible, and the pop up one is worse option. A cheap add-on flash is always better than it (bounce light, diffuser, etc)
For those of you that are fond of handheld flash light, enjoy your SBXXX units.
Now, may we focus back on why nobody bashes the YN465 on Google but it doesn't works as expected in my case?

 9.
Hello,
I've purchased an YN465 to use with my D90.
With flash in iTTL mode, camera in manual mode (f/5.6, 1/100s, ISO 200), photos are very dark. Flash was replaced by seller, with same result.
I tested the first unit in a friend's D300 - same result.
With flash in manual mode, I'm able to adjust power output to get a decent photo.
Thanks for your help!

 10.
Thanks, guys.
Joel Jermakian's post solved my problem.
I was using straighten - but I was really rotating the photo by 47 deg.

 11.
Hello,
If one rotates an image in NX2 more than 45 deg, it will change from portrait to landscape (or the other way around).
(I know, I shouldn't rotate this much...)
Is there a way to avoid this change?
Thanks,

 12.
Thank you, guys!
First, the way the manual is written doesn't refects the way the Fn button operates - as described by Denton. Mine does exactly the same, so it's not defective.

Peter and John - your suggested alternative sites to learn the D90 are much better than the manual!

Take care,

00WZ9X-247859584.jpg.f3ca500ff64e7e76d44030f9e2dd9767.jpg

 13.
Ok, so I can assign a function to the Fn button by pressing the info button twice. That's nice.
But I still don't know if I have a deffective camera - pressing the Fn button, keeping it pressed and rotating the main dial as stated on the manual does nothing.
Is this OK or not?

Thanks,

 14.
I was already keeping the Fn button pressed and rotating the dial - and can't see anything happening.
Where should the setting appear? In the viewfinder? the upper display? the rear display?
Thanks,

 15.
Hello,
Returning after a long time - now digital and Nikon...
I've just purchased a D90 and I'm taking the pilot course oops, I mean reading the manual (-:

One thing I don't understand is the Fn button.
For instance, the user's manual states many times at page 197 (PDF):
"Press the Fn button and rotate the main command dial to..."

Well, I press the button, turn the dial - and nothing happens!
Do I have a deffective camera or am I doing somenting wrong?

Thanks!
