I would venture that you need two different lenses for portraits and scenics. One on the extreme of each ends. If you want cheap, get a Koni Omega Rapid, get their wide angle hexanon 58mm/f 5.6, and the portrait 180mm/f 4.5. If it is possible, also carry their normal lenses, the 90mm/f 3.5 All of them are excellent lenses, on par and sometimes surpass the hassie lenses of that era. The format is 6 X 7

Or the technology learned from Leica R digital is converted to be used in the Leica M.

Hm...seeing that 6mp aps size sensor should be relatively affordable to manufacture right now. It is a big possibility. Not sure if you can buy a full frame sensor Leica M at $4000 - 5000.
Another possibility is, just the back. Replacing the Leica M back with a digital sensor. Which would allow everything from Leica M3 to M7/MP to be usable. Interesting.

I don't have any problem with a 35 and 50 on my M2 which has the .72. I can say even that it is a perfect fit.

According to the serial number I got from camera quest, it supposed to be Leica III chrome. Seems like a III. But, this is in black. Interesting. Cool camera, though. I love the way it look.

Digital for color, TMAX P3200 (rated 1600), and BW400CN for film.
-
recalculated, not 6X6, but could be 6X4.5
-
looks like a 6 X 6. And from the smoothness. Is this a medium format picture? Hassie 80/2.8 with a Provia or Reala?
-
Why don't you try buy a Nikon 28mm f.1.4 lens first. and Nikon 85mm f.1.4 The quality from those lenses is on par with Leica. Buying a Leica, you need to consider about the lenses. If you can afford a M6/7/P with a 35/50/75 Lux(f1.4) or Cron (f2) ASPH(if possible), or Noctilux then go for it. You'll see the difference in the image(in my opinion) and also a difference in the philosophy of shooting. It is an acquired taste.

Wow...That 50 lux asph is sharp. I want one.

Cool Matt.

Cool, Ron. So you got any lenses for it, yet? I got an unused 50/2.8 russian lens if you want one.

Best "if" somewhere out there, there is a camera that
1. Size wise, as compact as the Leica CL.
2. Functionality and build quality as good as the Leica M.
3. Price like a Bessa.
One can only dream.
-
ok, this is what I mean. The Bessa might give you less problems/troubles than the CL.
-
The Bessa might be of a better quality than the CL.

Shooting into a strong light source may sometimes throw off the sensor I guess. Could it be that you are using a slower shutter speed and bigger aperture?
-
I found this on the net.
Anybody know any place that offer modification? Very interesting.

Btw, I shoot a mix of film and digital for wedding. With BW400CN, and TMAX 3200, for film work and D70 for color.

Jeff shoot with a Canon digital now, if I remember correctly.
