Haha thanks Eric.
Since purchasing my DSLR I really see no reason to shoot another frame on the Hasselblad. Yes the images from the Hassy are better but the images that come out of my Nikon D200 are pretty damn close and the immediate preview of the image and overall faster workflow makes digital the better choice for me.

Robert, thanks for that link. It seems like it performs at it's best between f4 and f8. That's what I was looking for.
-
Not trying to do anything specific. Was just wonder at what aperture does the 1.8 perform the best.
-
Anyone know which aperture on the 1.8 gives you the best image performance?
Sharpness, contract, etc.
-
Thanks Michael. The D200 is just an amazing camera. I was close to buying a D80 until I went to B&H and compared the two. I fell in love with D200. You won't regret buying it.
-
Dennis I think I read about someone doing this through some adapter but Im not 100% sure.
Anyways, the new Zeiss ZF lenses will work on the D80. You won't have all the benefits of the lens that you would with a D200 but it still works.

I'm shooting with a D200 and was wonder if when set to RAW does it overwrite all
the in-camera settings like sharpen, saturation, WB, etc?

Ilkka, sent again.
-
Ilkka, I sent you an email. Get back to me when you can.
Paul, I think it's going to be while before we see $1500 digital backs for Hasselblads.
-
I think I just went there on a bad day. The guy made some comment on how a few other people tried to sell Hasselblads as well but he didnt mention if he bought them or not. Oh well.
Anyways, I have a 500cm body, 80mm CF lens, Hassy lens hood, A12 back, WL finder, Kiev Spot TTL prism and a Hassy polaroid back. Everything is in excellent condition. If someone makes me a decent offer its yours.
-
Maybe Ill throw it up on Ebay. I have been considering to just keep it but Ive already decided to move to digital. As much as I love film I have realized that it's dying a slow death. Less clients are accepting it, less labs are dealing with it. It's sad. Oh well. For $500 I would rather just keep it and look at it. :)
I was just shocked that they bought a bunch of worthless 35mm gear, that was very beat up, and didn't even bother to look at my Hasselblad.
As for the Hasselblads on their site, they don't have any complete ones, just bodies. Mine has a lens, back, WL, Kiev Spot prism and polaroid back.
-
If I could afford a digital back then I would but I can't.
-
I just called them and they gave me a quote for $500. Not even worth selling.
-
You might be right Brian. I love this camera but now that Im moving to digital I dont ever see myself using it again. Id rather someone else enjoy it than have it site around collections dust.
-
I went there today to trade in my Hasselblad cause Im ready to drop 3k on a
digital system and as I was pulling it out of my bag he said "oh not another
Hasselblad" and then said, "I'm not interested." I was freakin shocked! He
bought two crappy lenses off some woman before me and gave another woman $450
for a bunch of old beat up 35mm stuff. I understand that film cameras arent in
high demand but he didn't even bother looking at it and all the equipment is in
excellent condition. He could have easily sold it. They don't even have any
Hasselblad systems for sale on their site so its not like they have a cache of them.
Anyways, Im irritated and just needed to vent. I thought these guys buy
anything, especially something with value.

Zeiss handles the quality control on these lenses. Cosina just produces them. Cosina also produces the Zeiss lenses for Leicas so I doubt they are as bad as you are saying. Personally the Nikon AF lens I have seen feel like a toy in my hand, they don't compare to anything made by Zeiss.
-
Ken, Paul, I've tried both techniques and they don't work. It's impossible to scan cross processed film using a regular consumer scanner.

Actaully Ive heard the opposite. The build quality is suppose to be superb, after all the Nikon 50mm lens is freaking made of all plastic.

Anyone use or have experience with manual focus Zeiss lenses on Nikon DSLR's,
specifically the D200?
I've always loved Zeiss glass, use to own a Contax and fell in love with the
lenses, so I'm thinking about purchasing a 50mm f/1.4 ZF Planar T* Manual. I
don't do any sports or fasted paced photography and I've always loved focusing
manually, makes me feel like I have more control over the image even if I don't.
I understand that on the D200 the viewfinder is not full frame and it's a little
dark but I read that you can buy a split screen for it to help with manual focus.
Is it just a stupid idea or is manual focusing on a D200 tolerable?
-
Wing, I had the same problem once. The answer is, no you can't successfully scan crossed processed film. I've tried everything, messing with white balance, settings, you name it, nothing worked. I think the problem has to do with the software expecting to find an orange tone in regularly processed film and that's why the colors are all out of wack.
I use to cross process all my film and have the lab just make me prints and then scan the prints. You can do this or you can just have the film processed normal and then do a fake cross in Photoshop.
Take the film back to your lab and have prints made man, that's the best way.

All you need is Levels and Curves in Photoshop to get the saturation found in Velvia. First use the Levels to make the whites white and the blacks black then use Curves to saturate the colors and to bump up the contrast.
