  1. Rene,

Check out the Mountain Smith Tour bag. It is a great hippack. I have used them for the last

15 years for mountain biking, hiking and more recently for a camera bag. The interior

pocket will hold an M with lens, two extra lenses, light meter, film and other do-dads. It

has an interior zip pocket that is good for holding filters and lens cloth. There is an

exterior zip pocket for other items, and two outside H2o bottle pockets that can hold

lenses or your pepper spray. It is light, folds up smaller than any camera bag and is water

resistant. The only thing I have found to be water proof and light are trash bags. The hip

belt is great, I have gone on long trail rides with 20 pounds of gears in it with no problem.

This is not a pack to wear along with you backpack, but would make a good day-hike

    pack. Check it out here....

  2. Anthony,

I just shot a festival in Long Beach. Originally they said photographs would be allowed for the first three songs, and no flash. It turned out that I could photograph whole sets and use a flash. only two bands, out of 29, held the photographers to the three song limit. My advice is to take everything yopu got, unless you know exactly what conditions you will be shooting under. I used Leica M's and a Nikon F3. I had a 20mm lens on the Nikon and that is what got the most use. There were two stages at the event. One was indoors at the Queen Mary, had a low stage and photographers had accesss to the very front. The other was a big stage outdoors, about eight feet off the ground, and while photographers had access to the very front, you were shooting up at the performers. I do not like that perspective, so I would hold up the Nikon with th 20mm on it at arms length and go for it. It worked. With a max focus of 6feet, it allowed me to grab some nice shots of fast moving performers, in tight surroundings. Using a small flash, Leica SF 20, allowed me to not worry about the lighting as much. I used Tri-X pushed to 800 and Fuji NPZ 800. I would not go slower than this.

One other thing. Go for it. Move where you need to move, use what you need to use to get the shot. Make friends with the security guys, contrary to popular belief they can be cool and helpful. After all they are working the gig too. Good luck.<div>006XxG-15357284.jpg.0d0cc738f34f73ef0370faf460022b5b.jpg</div>
