  1. The Magnificent Seven is a row of buildings, all constructed in the early 1900's, each in a different architectural style. The buildings have all served as offices or residences of officials of government or church at various times in their history.

This was the first to be built - in 1902 - and was modelled in part on Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments on this photo and the others in this folder, especially anything I might do to improve them

    Thank you!

  2. Robert, I don't know if you got an answer to your question. The banding is a common effect of lower quality jpeg files. Where you have this sort of gradiated sky it can even occur at quite high quality levels.

I like the picture. I don't it's too dark at all.

Took this from a clifftop overlooking the sea where several pelicans

were feeding. I was shooting in b/w mode at the time, and used

photoshop to colourise. The tilted horizon was not planned, however I

like it - it gives me the feeling of being in flight along with the

bird. Would appreciate any thoughts or comments.

Good timing on this shot. I noticed that the tidemark left by the previous wave is fairly close to the rock. How long did you have to wait for a wave to break over it?

And it looks like you shot it from a standing position. A crouched position might have increased the dramatic effect of the breaking wave.

Very nice Sean. I just wonder whether it would have looked better with the sun and bird just off to the right (as the bird is flying right to left).
  3. I don't know if it's kosher to post comments of all someone's photos so I settled on this one. You have some amazing sunset/sunrise photos in your portfolio, the colours are exquisite. Someone once told me that some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world are seen in California. Your photos certainly lend credence to that statement.

  4. Erik,
Thanks for your comments. The bird is my favourite bit too. As a friend said, it brings the entire photo to life.

I understand what you mean about the horizon, but given that this was shot handheld from the deck of a boat in moderately choppy seas, I'm not complaining.

    regards
