Apparently neither you nor the person in the photo suffer from acrophobia. Breathtaking, for more than one reason!

Simplest is often most beautiful.

It's amazing, how you took such a simple scene and turned it into a spectacular photograph. Great eye!

The Magnificent Seven is a row of buildings, all constructed in the early 1900's, each in a different architectural style. The buildings have all served as offices or residences of officials of government or church at various times in their history.
This was the first to be built - in 1902 - and was modelled in part on Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments on this photo and the others in this folder, especially anything I might do to improve them
Thank you!

Is that La Desirade on the horizon?

I'm a sucker for these mirror-type images. Very good execution.

Mark, you are the master of bug portraiture!
Do your clients repay your diligence by not invading your house? :p

Perhaps you overdid the USM just a bit? Causing the overemphasised halo around the main tower.
The colours and composition are great though.

Jagged border gives it a postage stamp look. Very vibrant colours and detail though.

Robert, I don't know if you got an answer to your question. The banding is a common effect of lower quality jpeg files. Where you have this sort of gradiated sky it can even occur at quite high quality levels.
I like the picture. I don't it's too dark at all.

Took this from a clifftop overlooking the sea where several pelicans
were feeding. I was shooting in b/w mode at the time, and used
photoshop to colourise. The tilted horizon was not planned, however I
like it - it gives me the feeling of being in flight along with the
bird. Would appreciate any thoughts or comments.

Good timing on this shot. I noticed that the tidemark left by the previous wave is fairly close to the rock. How long did you have to wait for a wave to break over it?
And it looks like you shot it from a standing position. A crouched position might have increased the dramatic effect of the breaking wave.

All new conch shell with convenient grips for your fingers? A cricket fan's dream!

Experience has taught me to turn on and ready my camera in another room before attempting to photograph sleeping objects. That said, the bright shining eyes do add something to the photo.

Certainly not the most visually pleasing photo I've taken, at least not judging by comments I've received so far. I think it's a fairly unusual situation though.
Thanks.

I love the texture of the water. Lovely, Angel.

I don't know if it's kosher to post comments of all someone's photos so I settled on this one. You have some amazing sunset/sunrise photos in your portfolio, the colours are exquisite. Someone once told me that some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world are seen in California. Your photos certainly lend credence to that statement.

Erik,
Thanks for your comments. The bird is my favourite bit too. As a friend said, it brings the entire photo to life.I understand what you mean about the horizon, but given that this was shot handheld from the deck of a boat in moderately choppy seas, I'm not complaining.

This photo does a good job of capturing the typical activity found on Manzanilla beach. Very nice.
