  1. Matt, you're great. I've posted this within announcements because it is clear all annoncements are posted here? I think you're telling only half of the story, but thanks anyway. No, I don't think this is clear enough. An easy accessible page with an overview is simple and very informing. Secondly I want attention for the good idea's here, if and so when they will be taken into production by the site keepers. It will be good and positive feedback to all users if done so. Just like ie your good idea for the presentations. It is thought to be a good idea but will it be taken into production? and when? and if not, why not? It shows where and how our efforts are adressed.
  2. Two part question. 1. Maybe I overlooked, but I didn't find an

announcements page on this site with the planned actions/dates.

Prevents questions about performance and other.

    2. It might also be a great help for us to see if posted questions

are taken seriously and put into actions by the site keepers. Many

good suggestions are done here, but there is not always clarity of

wich will lead to action or not, and when.

  3. I was also thinking of another photo rating system. Not the only one I suppose

<More fields, i.e. Composition, light, color use

Aesthetics multiplied with number of ratings, composition, light, color use (maybe more?) and then divided by ?

The lowest and highest ratings should be excluded (above 10 ratings or so)

This will give a number witch is you rating, and its composed from more elements of interest.

In this way you will learn more by reading your ratings, because people dont always tell you, and if you have a 1 rater it will not bother too much. Also the people are challenged to look at the photo's in a different way and rate.

  4. Maybe a formula can be made from amount of ratings x average of ratings? the weight of both can be determined by a test. In this way w might be able to combine the streght's of both worlds. Maybe other value's could be part of it as well, be the consequence is that we have to rate for that part to.
  5. Thank you Carl, Brian and Peggy. I read the comments from the defenders of last time and was not impressed. The "fair" alternative of giving the critique requests free to use for everybody would not bring us an environment to be happy with. Peggy's alternative makes sense in my opinion. A request only one time is a step ahead. removing the ratings at the second time is more work if I understand databases well. A new upload will give you ratings and new comments and is just a little more work. If you want more comments, start doing it yourself. (and that's a wish as well).
  6. Some thoughts/questions..> -What purpose do you have? A zoom and a fixed focus are very different.

action? definately autofocus. landscape? choose fixed??(not so hard rule)

-wich will give you the most added value to your equipment?

-What else can you buy when you choose the 'cheap'? a sturdy tripod for it? you'll have the sharper pics.

for some others with the same questions you can look for links on my webpage in http://www.photopage.nl/Tips&training/35mmtips.html

also many links to lenstests on the site (but under construction), well anyway , good luck with your choice! Hans
