This is Off Topic but its the only way I can try to communicate with Jorge Torralba since he won't answer any type of email.
Why can't I register with a Yahoo or Hotmail email for the RF Forums? These are the only email addresses I have. As a long time Leica user and former Pro I would like to contribute to RF Forums but I can't. -Dick

Leica says that this bag is suitable for the 'M' camera on its website but all
marketing infomration says its for the 'R' camera. I need to carry two M's and
4 lenses, 35A, 50, 75AA and 90AA along with an sf24 flash. I like the
weatherproff feature also. Does anyone have any experience with this bag?
There is no where in the Chicago area that i can find the bag available to fit
my gear into. Its rather pricey so I don't want to order unless i am reasonbly
sure it will fit my needs. Any help is appreciated. thanks-Dick

I have both, an M6 Classic 0.85 and M7 0.85. both have M motors. the M7 is hands down the better of the two. I find the exposure lock using the shutter release to be very quick. As i use the M's primarily for people/action shots, the M7 is the best. My M3SS now sits. -Dick

My 1963 M3 with the depth of field indicators in the patch is still as bright as my 1998 M6 and my M7.
If I had to choose a rangefinder and patch among the three, the M3 just stands out. -Dick

Shot a roll of Elite Chrome on the M6. When I had removed the film I tried the infinty registration agin and it was perfect. It was also perfect on the M7 and the M3!
The lens was brand new and the original progression for mounting was M6 to M7 to M3, with the registration getting progressively better with each camera it was mounted on, until it was perfect with the M3 originally. Took the lens and shook it but it continues to be in perfect register at infinity now with all threee M's. Strange? But I also feel better now! Thanks to all who replied.-Dick

Just acquired a 75mm AA and at my normal viewing distance for infinity(400
yds), the 75 is perfectly in register with my M3, but just a hair out with my
M6(0.85) and slightly less with my M7(0.85). Dave at Leica NJ, says to do
anything they will want the lens/camera combination. I have both M3 RF lenses
and new ASP 35 1.4 and the 90 AA also and have not had this problem. I realise
that this is a mechanical calibration problem and that variances exist. I
don't see that it is worth the effort to return the lens to Leica for
adjustment to a specific camera body. Am I just encountering this sort of
thing for the first time or being too picky? Thanks for any information. -Dick

Well I have my M6 0.85 and am considering either/both a Leicavit-M or Leica
Motor M. What experiences has anyone had with using the Leicavit-M and a half
case with wrist strap?
What experiences has anyone had using the Leica Motor M and half case?
As I would like to keep the noise to a minimum, please comment on the noise of
either versas a normal M6. Thanks for any responses. -Dick

Thanks to all on the forum for helping me to pick the correct M6 to go along
with my M3. Picked up an M6 0.85 literally new in the box from a very nice
individual. I really enjoy the way the LED's point the way to rotate the
aperature dial as i alway pick a shutter speed and then the appropriate f
stop. The M6 0.85 is an ideal match to my M3. I also picked up a 35mm 1.4
Aspherical from the same individual. I guess my 35mm RF Summicron may sit for
now and I will hang a 90mm Summicron off the M3 as they match in chrome!-Dick

Thanks for all the responses.
In the early 1970's I worked for the Wisconsin State Journal as a photographer. Everyone used Nikon F's including me. I was able to borrow and use M3's and M2's that were not in use. When I left to pursue my real career as a Nuclear Engineer after Graduate School, I couldn't even afford to pay $200 for an M2+lens that was offered to me. About 15 years ago I decided to get a M3 outfit and found a Mint body # greater than 1M and the listed lenses in Mint condition. With my Nikon, it has served me well. As an engineer, I really value design and manufacturing.
I certainly like the MP but the high price in relation to a used M6 and the comments returned have made my decision. A Mint M6TTL 0.85 is for me.
Again thnaks to all that Posted.-Dick

I have an M3 and 35mmRF 2.0 Summicron, 50mmDR Summicron, 90 f2 Suumicron and
135mmRF 2.8 lenses. I want an M with a built in meter after all these years to
accompany my M3. I am used to the M3 finder but find the price difference
between a new MP and used M6TTL attractive. I would like the shutter speed
dials to rotate in the same direction for both the M3 and whatever M I decide
on. I also plan on using the RF lenses which should work according to Leitz. I
don't plan on anything wider than 35mm and usually use 90mm for the M3.
Any comments on suggestions appreciated. thanks-Dick

I have a 135 2.8 RF for my M3. It is hard to imagine a 180mm for a number of reasons. 1. Small frame size, hard to focus, size. The VisoFlex housing was developed for these long lenses. With the introduction of the Leica SL in the 60's, the need for anything longer than 135 went away. -Dick

Have had both chrome and black Nikons and a have a chrome M3 with all the RF lenses. The chrome finsh has held up remarably well over the years(about 40). True, black does not stand out like chrome but chrome looks much better for a working camera. Chrome does not have the 'professional' connotation that 'black' does but as a former news photographer, it doesn't affect the pictures one bit! -Dick
The History of your old Leica
in Leica and Rangefinders

I am the second owners of all three of my M's. My M3 similar to yours, had its owner pass away and was purchased from his estate with 50mm DR and case with all literature but no boxes. My M6(0.85) came from a Studio photographer that switched all digital and my M7(0.85) from a news photog. All were in and still are in mint condition. I use no cases or other hinderances but just exercise normal care. They will eventually suffer from use but that's what they were made for. My Nikon f's got considerably banged up in the 1960's as a news photog but they did thier job.
It is nice to know the history of your M but some have passed thru so many owners that one will never know.-Dick
