I am horrible and unknowledgable at flash photography. I'm thinking
about getting the 120J. How do I get a non E-TTL flash(specifically
the 120J) to work properly on my Digital Rebel? The reason I want
non E-TTL is b/c I ain't got no money. And I've seen fantastic
results with the reflector flash. Would it all have to be done in
Manual?

I see. Is there anything good in the same zoom/price range?

I just bought a Digital Rebel, and I want to replace the kit lens
that came with it. I thought Sigma's 28-105 2.8/4 would be a good
range and max aperture for my basic needs, and I've read up on it,
but I'm not getting substantially compelling reviews either way.
What are some thoughts by people who have used this? I want as many
pros and cons as possible. Also, is this significantly better(in
terms of the $80ish difference) than the f 3.8/5.6 version? Thanks
folks.

"If you're an EOS shooter who's used to a thumbwheel, then the D60 is a better choice. I tried a 300D and couldn't get used to it for that reason."
Well, I own a Rebel TI, so no. I think I'm going for the hacked DRebel. Thanks for your input everyone.

I see. And in regard to Tom's reply, what is the difference between an EF and EF-S lens? What zoom ranges come in the EF-S?

I've read some reviews of both, and it seems like quite a toss up
still.
I mean, both can be bought within the same price range, except the
d60 would likely be used(which I don't mind too much). Also, if I
were to get a Rebel, I would probably *gasp* hack the firmware.
Would this make all the difference?
Can a Sunpak 120J work on a 300D?

Oh sorta like the Viv 285? I've read that there are two different types of the 120J. Does it matter which?
And it doesn't try to preflash, does it?
