  1. That's where my daughter was born 3 years ago, the hospital light is horrible (I had a south facing window and noon sun to cope with) so I didn't try for more than happy snaps. I'm trying to figure out how the hand is out of focus and the mother and baby aren't, but no matter- this is a great photo. The composition is spot on as it is shown here and it gets the emotion without being sentimental. I'd expect this to be in frames in your relations homes for years. One tip ... keep an eye open for any suitable competitions, this has prize winner written all over it.

I've got to agree with stefan's comment about slightly Kitsch. The composition is pretty text book, and the texture on the flowers is really good. I didn't notice the lighting anomaly until it was pointed out.

I can't fault it on execution, and I feel apologetic for not liking it, but I don't. It's worth another try.

Got to agree with the comments so far, the model is nicely posed and very well it, but if you think of how long a tele lens you need to get the moon that big, you need to be a VERY long way from the model - who is plainly not lit by moon light.

The problem is if you take the moon out you either have a large empty area (not always bad), or you have a long thin photo.

I don't know what those reflections are in the foreground, but if you don't like having an large empty space I'd try to extend those down so the model is highter up in the picture. Then you get quite a nice beside (or floating on) a lake effect.
