  1. > For most people, camera collecting is over, just like collect junk in your garage.

In that case, I'd be happy to accept everyones leica junk for free. I'll take good care of it and

even find a nice shelf for it. And every 4-6 weeks give it a good fondle so it feels loved. I'll

even pay for you to post it to me from abroad =0)

  2. just wondered if anyone had used both the 1st version f1.0 58mm lens and the current E60 version. Is

there a colour difference? ie. the colour on the latest is better or is there no noticeable difference. If not

I'll check out the E58 version as its lighter, has the detachable hood and protrudes less into the VF. My

only query is the colour coatings.

I'd be interested in hearing actual experience with those who have owned and shot with both these

    lenses. Thanks in advance

  3. thanks for the responses guys. i now know re 1.

    > 3. Are you so sure of the advantage in price once you have stripped out VAT (there's no

duty on DSLRs)? Of course, you've just missed the UKP200 rebate that finished on 31

October having been running since February, and you are in no position to take advantae

of the newly introduced rebate in North America (or I suspect any rebate that might be

    running in Hong Kong).

so theres No Duty on DSLRS? - didn't know that, how come? usually cameras have about a

5% duty. yes, yes, i know imissed on the 200 squid rebate. ah, well. But warehouseExpress

have dropped their price by 100 pounds so i think they are about 1699 UKP now. but

maybe i can wait till the upgrade? when it comes out, which maybe soon

    > 4. Given that you can write off the cost in your business, any differential in price may

look small on an after tax basis compared with the hassles of not having you camera

turned around rapidly when you need a repair.

yes, thats what i figured. buying local then is defintely worth it

  4. whats the price of a 5D over there at a good reputable shop that does one of the best deals in town?

just curious. and i'm assuming its a good place to get all sorts of electronic gear like portable storage

devices like the Epson P-4000 or Canon M80 (how much are these) and extreme III cards, price of 2GB

    CF and SD cards?

    thanks for your responses

  5. Been contemplating of getting a 5D in HongKong, as I think its quite a bit cheaper than buying here in

the UK. but then I thought of things like:

    1. warranty - would Canon UK recognise and honour the warranty on a camera bought outside of the

country. if not that would be a major hassle and draw-back if anything goes wrong

    2. registering with CPS - would Canon Professional Service only register UK purchased gear?

The customs and duty thing is not a big deal as I'm VAT registered and can claim it back anyway. But

just wondered if saving a few hundred bucks is really worth it considering the above.

    Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
