Hi all!
I am going to be a owner of a F100 camera real soon in about 2 weeks or so! It's a big
jump for me as this is my first AF camera! I am moving up from a Nikon F2 to a Nikon
F100 so it's a big jump!
I wanted to ask about flashes. I want to purchase a Metz 45 CT-4 and was wondering if
anyone uses this combo? As I would like a flash that would work with both my Hasselblad
503cw and F100...
Thanks to all how reply
Cheers,

I very recently refreshed the NiCads in a 45-40 batery pack that I bought as "dead" in
eBay. Fitted 2,500mAh batteries at a fraction of the cost of a Metz pack.
Remember though to:
a) Buy "tagged" rechargeable batteries;
c) Note the arrangement of the old batteries very carefully before removing them;
c) Snip off and reuse the long strip of metal that joins the top of two batteries but plunges
down between them (to clear a moulding strut inside the holder).
Charge the new batteries for many hours - the first charge on mine took 36 hours (with a
Metz 402-12d charger) before it delivered full voltage.

Okies I thought you could only put nicads in and you coudln't use nickel metal hydride
ones? I didn't find any nicads that were more then 1000mAh
Robert Davis , sep 30, 2004; 11:33 a.m.
Which batteries did you buy? Awhile back I checked the prices on 1700 batteries and the
cost for six including shipping wasn't much cheaper then just buying a new Metz pack.
--------------
Mine were cheap but then again they were only 1000mAh

ahh cools I didn't know you could get empty batterie housings to recharge batteries.
Thanks for that I might look into that later. I ended up buy some 1000 miliamp batteries
and took them to my technician and he soldered them into the housing as well as cleaning
it for me. Only costed me 20 dollars so that was good value.
thanks for the repy!

Hi all,
I have just purchased a couple of 45-40 rechargeable batterie packs and I think one pack
is dead.
I wanted to ask what the specs are of the batteries and also would it be possible for me to
replace these with "regular" rechargeable batteries? or do I need the 45-40 ones?
Hope someone can answer my question as I couldn't find much on the metz site.

Hi all,
I'm real confused at the moment with how to use fill flash with my hasselblad 503cw.
In my mind I'm thinking
If I'm shooting with iso 400 film
I turn the dial to say 800 because you don't need as much light for iso 800?
I'm so kungfused right now. Hope you guys can unkungfuse me
thanks all!

Hi all,
I will be receiving a hasselblad polaroid 100 back, and wanted to ask what type of film do I
use with it? I went down to a minilab and they had all these different types of polaroid film
like 600..1200...400... etc etc
Also is the polaroid back limietd to only a certian number of iso polaroid film? (sorry don't
know if polaroids have isos).
I will be using this back for previewing and test shots.
The main types of film I will be using are
kodak tmax 100, 400
kodak portra 160, 400
(I haven't decided on which slide films yet)
What kind of polaroid film should I be using to get close to what the final print will look
like?
Hope someone can help.
Cheers all,

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies I think you guys have convinced me to get the B800 instead :D
which is great it'll be alot cheaper. I'll most likely save for the B800 a air cushioned stand
and a large softbox. Thanks to all who replied and helped me see the light!
One other question does anyone know if Alien Bees will do the power conversions? I'm in
Australia and was wondering if they would change the power to conform with Australian
standards? Sorry not sure if that is the correct wording/terminology

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. Hmm ok now I'm having 2nd thoughts about the 1600 and yea GO TIM THE TOOLMAN TAYLOR!! *GRUNT* which format do you shoot in? 35mm? medium format?
I guess I'd be trying to use my hasselblad more with the lights then my nikon F2 but I guess their will come a time when I will want to use the lights with my F2 hmm..
Just a lil concerned I won't get enough power with my Hasselblad....
Thanks for raising this with me.

Hi!
Thanks for all the responses so far! I'm thinking of purchasing the 1600 bee along with a air cushoioned 13 foot stand and maybe a softbox as well.
I know it might be a bit overkill with the 1600 but I was thinking better to have more power and be able to reduce it then getting a strobe that isn't as powerful and then needing to upgrade or purchase another one later.
Time to start saving for the gear now :D
Cheers all!
Thanks Berry!

Hi all!
I've been thinking about getting some strobes and have been reading good things about
the alien bee line of strobes. I wanted to ask if anyone has used them with a medium
format camera? I will be using it with my hasselblad 503cw. So I wanted to know if their is
enough power. I want to start off with portraits/portfolio shots, head shots. But would like
to have enough power to also do still life (shooting at F16 and more)
Hoping someone could help me out with making a decision.
Also am open to other suggestions for other strobes.

Hi all!
I recently bidded and won a Bogen Background Support System 3337 from eBay. Got a
good price for it. But they didn't come with any instructions :(
I was wondering if anyone had a pdf of it?
I just want to know how to attach the two clamps they came with the system. Call me
dumb or noob. But I can't figure out how to attach them to the system while holding up a
backdrop.....
Hope someone can help me :D Need to shoot some portfolio shots and need to figure out
soon how to work these clamps!
Thanks all for viewing and replying :D

I have a Hasselblad 503cw and was also thinking about getting the D-40 flash. But it
doesn't allow much control at all. Since you just plug it in and it does all the thinking for
you (TTL) I don't think you would be able to use the flash with the 500c/M ( please correct
me if I'm wrong guys)
But basically I bought a Metz 45 CT-4 and am using that now. Which is a much better
optoin for me. It plugs into the 503cw through the metz sca 390 adapter and relevant
cables for TTL. And I can also use the same flash with my Nikon F2 (which doesnt' have
TTL) with the normal regular cable.
I don't think the Metz 45 ct-4 is all that expensive. You can pick them up for around the
US 200 or so on ebay? Maybe even less.
Hope this helps

Hi Kevin,
So you use a 503CW with a winder attached as well as the hasselblad flash bracket and a
45ct-4 flash attached to the flash bracket? Which model is the bracket? How do you get to
the focusing rings etc? from underneath the camera? I would like to hear more of your
thoughts and experiences please.
I was also looking at the stroboframe pro-66 frame too with the adjustable height bar
where the flash sits maybe that will stop me from headbutting the flash hehehe
thanks all for viewing and replying

Hi Nadine,
Thanks for the reply. I also forgot to mention that I will be using the waist level finder as I
cannot afford any of the prisms yet. is the stroboframe flash bracket compatible with the
WLF? Will I be able to look down through the WLF without head butting the bracket or the
flash that is mounted on it?

Hi all,
I would to purchase a flash bracket for my metz 45ct-4 and was wondering what are
other peoples recommendations. I was thinking if I had my cw winder attached what
kind of flash bracket would be viable? I'll have to use my left hand for
focusing, aperture and shutter. So I was looking at a few flash brackets but didn't
know which one to get. As it looks like theirs a big gap between the body and the
bracket which would maka it hard for me get my left hand around to change the
focus, aperture or shutter.
Or do people think I'm better off without the cw winder attached and get a jones flash
bracket? *shrugs*
Thanks for looking and replying!

Hmm ok.
I do have a sekonic L-608 super zoom master. But I haven't been able to work out how to
add in the extension tube factor for macro shots. Well I haven't got the tubes yet but will
do soon. I guess I should purchase a copy of wildis hasselblad book. Which one would be
the one to get? I know their are about 2 different books am i right?
I do also have black and white coloured filters as well as a polariser. Thats why i was also
looking for a prism. I'd love to have a PME90 or a PME45 but the price is too high for me
unfortunately.
Thanks for the advice!
