oops sorry Carl (not sure where I'm going) Smith i miss read your comment.

I had a problem last year when I went to Kenya. I had to go through 4 airports and every one wanted to scan my films (more than once per airport). Although they are film friendly the cumulative affect of 8 or 10 scanners isnt wonderful.
-
I dont know where this info is coming from as Minolta do use distance in the flash metering In almost all Maxxum/Dynax cameras, called ADI. All Minolta flashes also have wireless as a standard and the newer have 8000th/sec flash sync. I know this is nothing to do with canon and nikon.
-
I stay away from the Cannon/Nikon debate. Most of them aren't willing to accept that there might be another possibility. Especially one that is cheaper and better. They tend to be elitest

Why the big panic about digi any way. Im in no hurry what so ever to change and am more than happy with my currant set up. I found that most people just shoot and shoot in digi then delete 99%. They dont stop to think about the shot they are making.

Negs and slides contain a lot moe info than 1 chip. in the scanning process you can get hidden detailes out of a pic that you cant get with a digi.

I was in Scotland may last year and around every second corner is another rune or castle. Edinburgh is well photographed by every one. Get a Scottish castles trust card (or is it called Scottish trust) and you get in to lots of them for free. Personaly I foung some of the castles out on the Islands much nicer than on the main land.

PS I also foud out that lots of my stuff from my dynax's dosent work with the d7 or a1. eg all xi series flases and wireless flash controller, vivitar 6000f macro fing flash is way over exposed etc etc. hope they all work with a dslr
-
the first dslr on the market (that used the vectis bayonett) was from minolta, but as ususal they were to ahead of the times and it didnt sell well. think it was called dimage (RD) 3000 and was 3mp (when 1 or 2 was standard).

wife wont let me sais i have enough camera crap already
-
Tamron have a great 180mm macro
-
i just got a sigma 2.8 50mm (the first shots will be on photo.net next week). but so far the 1:1 macro is worth the 1 stop i have lost from the 1.7 minolts 50mm. the results are sharp and it will cost you about the same as the 1.4 minolta.
-
The only thing i can think of is to clean the contacts between the two devices
-
There are 2 types of bayonets on the dynax/maxxum 5(well what i have seen). 1 is metal the 2nd is a very hard plastic. if you have the metal bayonett dont worry you can hang a 300mm2.8 on there and not worry about the weight. if you have the plastic bayonet it will only be an issue in a few years after you have changed lenses a few times and there is a bit of ware.
-
There is such a large gap between the 7 and the 5 (not represented by the price difference). As I told a friend sell a lung if you have to get the extra cash after all you have 2 of them. Ohhh and are you insured on the 5 then you can spring just a little more and get a 7.
-
you can find the 1.7 all ove e-bay. and they are great for the little cash that they cost. the 1.4 is a lot more expensive.
-
How old is the camera? do you have the cahnce to have it repeaiped under garrentee
-
It sounds like a ttl problem. Sounds like the flash isnt getting the ttl data from the camera and is flashing at max output. do you have any manual settings on the flash unit (compensate on the flash and not on the camera)
-
get the maxxum 7 the 700si is a good camera but the maxxum(dynax) 7 is 100000000000000 times better
anyone got The A1 working with 5400HS flash?
in Sony/Minolta
