This was shot in 1997. I actually did shoot other versions, which were, eh-hem, quite a bit more "rock-n-roll," but those would definitely need to be placed in the nude category, heheheee...

And yes - this was just before girls started getting "tramp-stamps" and wearing jeans just above the bikini line. My friend here, in this photo, was more than eager to pose however I liked. But the fact the CEO of LEVIS has it on his desk speaks to the fact that at that time, 501's were still the most popular jeans. I may re-do this with a different model soon - will need to find a different address however, as 501's are a bit out of date, to say the least. Too bad. Hot girls look soooooooo good in them, even now.

The rectangular shapes are man-made areas (fields, farms, etc.) which have had a dusting of snow and wind; the white rectangles are the spots where the snow has become stuck - probably inside furrows in the earth or where it clings to a bit of crop-stubble.

Truly gorgeous light . . . and girl! Nice casual, natural pose as well. Not sure the magazine adds a lot, then again, perhaps it's just the placement of it that seems ever so slightly askew. Does give the feeling of natural moment, however . . . but the girl's beauty and soulful gaze are riveting! Dam fine photograph! Well done.

Nice picture of a dirty girl. What strikes me is she looks exactly like Mary Kate Olsen - or should I say, what Mary Kate WILL look like in about 15 more years of hard Hollywood partying. Regardless, it's a striking, hard hitting, rough and dirty photograph. Definitely commands attention.

Older persons home? Funny - it was my home - at the time I made this picture my wife and i were both about 34 years old. But I do admit - she did have the taste of an old lady. hehehehe - guess you can tell we're no longer married?

then either sell it to or give it to PEOPLE magazine as they have the largest

readership / circulation. 3.8 million sales per week and something like 15 million +

readership.

what a great darn shot - 7/7 just for the gol darned perfection of it!

MY WORLD...

Putting the two separate images together smoothly was easy with a black background - the fact they were both shot on 4x5 Fuji Chrome - and ALL the manipulation of the focus on the girl AND the smoke around her - was done IN CAMERA - THAT was the tricky part. Except for blending around her feet there was no other PS manipulation. Furthermore - if you could see a high rez ( the orign scans were on a drum scanner at 300 megs each) you'd see the smoke blending at cigar/girl is perfect.

Of the handful of images I've posted on p.net, this image probably best represents how I see now - after 38 years of being photographer. I'm always looking for dimensions in my work now. Layers if you will. So thanks to all who see beyond one dimensional sunsets and flowers and nekked chicks.

this is not really nude but personally i don't mind a bit that you placed it in the nude category - seems to me the best category for such an image. it's very well done - though you might consider the basic rule of thirds for placement of the eyes - just my opinion. still - it's well lit and that's 70% of the game.
