yes, i know that but if its a high quality how badly, would i notice an issue a 8x12 inch print? Also if these images were sharpened already for 300/cn will they be very oversharpened for 300/in? I guess ill have to run a bunch of test to see for myself but i was hoping for a quick and easy way since there are so many files (and i am clearly such a big loser)

I just noticed (sadly) that i've been using my crop tool (in pscs)
with the resolution set at 300 pixels/cm vs. pixels/in. <br><Br>
i have also duly noted that these files are much bigger set to cm
than inches which does make perfect sense to me. These images are
now actually a higher resolution than i need (provided my logic here
isnt too flawed.) <br><br> My goal will ultimately be to upload
and print these files, if i ran an action to update the Image size
resolution (im talking about 1500 images as apprently ive made this
error quite some time ago) would i be seriously degrading the
quality of the jpgs (which have only been saved once at the highest
quality setting?)

Hi, I have the Wolverine 40 gig (which actually reports on as 32 gig) is within your budget. No viewing, but it confirms file transfer as okay and reports how many files. Battery life is okay (tho while traveling i try to keep it fully charged.)

Hi, I was just in Milford Sound on April 1 - the weather was dry and superbly clear. Unfortunately, it had been dry for quite some time as the only waterfalls i saw were the two that are permenant. If you get rain it is supposed to be beautifully atmospheric, if you get brilliant skies i highly recommend a helicopter flight over the sound - it was amazing! I have no images to share just yet as i am working very slowly editing my 3000 raw images from a month in NZ. <br><br> I spent a lot of time worrying about weather and what to do and such and i think its safe to say that no matter what you can not go wrong in NZ it was the most beautiful place with the nicest people. You will have a fantastic time.

i don't have an answer for you but i love the way he shoots to. If you like Anton's U2 pictures you really need to check out the whole book, U2 & I, it is fantastic. I was lucky enough to see his work in a gallery in the city last fall, and that shot of bono above was absolutely amazing in person.

Hi, I just came back from my first big trip since i got my 20D - which i had for about a year. I loved traveling digital! <br><br> The size of bunches of film is probably = to the size of the charger, cords & portable hard drive. (although my bag of cords also contained back up digi p&S cord, cell phone and mp3 player cords which just begs the question of a universal charger plugs but i digres.) <br><br> You will be happy with an 8 megapixel camera in terms of quality. I shot all in RAW and am not in the processing of reviewing an obscene number of shots - i dont expect to have anything to show til June

Pick up a Xray Bag.... you never know how its going to go. I just came home from New Zealand-Sydney-Honolulu (i live in NY) i had a silly little underwater camera for snorkling that was 800 speed that i couldn't get hand inspected in either Auckland or Sydney. At the time i was annoyed but while i haven't gotten around to developing yet im sure i was trying to shoot to deep (i was doing a thing called snuba and you get down about 8-12 feet) for the images to have come out anyway.

Jeff - i have no advice but i loved the way you wrote your post - and i can totally relate!

Hi,
Im currently on a trip to New Zealand... the first time i inserted a
memory card into my 40 gig Wolverine Flash Pack the screen display
told me i only had 32 Gigs of storage... So, i assumed i hadn't fully
cleared it from its last use which was between 6 and 8 gigs. <br><br>
i just bought a usb plug and hooked into the hotels computer where
if i choose the device as my drive and choose properties it tells me
i have 37 gigs space left.
<br><br>
Can any one tell me the a) the cause of the descrepency and b) how
much space i have on the device?
Much Thanks... ill try and check back soon but am not traveling with
a laptop.

Okay, if I was correct and you simply looking thru the viewfinder and taking a meter reading and what you want to do is set the exposure compensation you need to do the following (refer to your manual p83)
You need to be in any creative zone except manual
Click the on/off switch to the setting above ON the slash line
Use the wheel on the back to change the "cursor" to the exposure compensation you want to set it to
Take the picture - your exif will show what you set the cursor to.
Mind you, when you do take the picture, the viewfinder will still meter the scene and the cursor will blink based on the reading it is taking at that time - the shutter and apature the camera choose will reflect the exposure compensation you selected
Good luck.
-
I think you may be confusing reading the meter inside the camera by pointing it at the light with setting the exposure compensation.

LOL, love the scissor link. I generally print snap shots at 4x6 (to easily fit in albums) but just got a fuji f11 (for situations where my 20D is unwieldy) and the f11 only does 3:2 aspect ratio with the "normal" level of compresssion vs the "fine" level....

It helps... but its not a substitute for a tripod.... i have an ems walking stick where the handle screws off and a tripod head screws on - i perfer the monopod/walksing stick to hiking with a tripod

hi, the caps lock key turns some tools between black and white- not sure if this will help with all brushes, but i think it does for cloning/healing and it definitely works with the ruler tool

Very Nice... am quite fond of the U2 ones.... if you're at all a fan, i have some great shots from <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/51717436@N00/sets/1662354//">

Thanks, so i started this thinking 122 for a filter and now its 10 for a step down ring. Love that, it usually works in the other direction

WOW... i have a 72mm one for my 28-135! Thank you!

Hi,
I need to get a circular polarizer for my 17-40. If i am only really
planning on using it with my Canon 20D, do i have to get a wide angle
specific filter or will the regular one be okay? <br><br>Im looking
at the Tiffen regular for $70 vs the Wide for $122 and i figure if
the 1.6x factor makes the 17 = 27 i should be okay. Or is that
faulty logic and it doesn't work that way.<br><br><br><br>thank you
in advance
-
thanks .... the 3 sites listed (unless im actually blocked because im in the US which is too paranoid for me to consider) only lists the f10 and not the f11
-
It does... and depending on what my flights end up costing... but as dumb as this sounds, can someone recommend a website in Canada, i beleive i can have it delivered to someone in Canana who could then reship to me in NY

I am planning a trip to New Zealand for about a month in
March/April. I plan on taking my 20D but think i may wish to have a
compact digicam for any extended hikes, placement in watersafe bag
for kyacking, and lastly the u2 concerts ill be attending. <br><br>I
am looking to spend around 300-400 US max... I've spent quality time
on dpreview and am now further overwhelmed by choice. I would like
apature/shutter priority modes and would like it not to be hideously
noisy at higher iso (thinking of the concert) <br> <br> anything to
narrow down my choices would be very appreciated. <br> <br> thank you
in advance

meant to mention, i was using a Canon 20D
-
I was recently out and about in about 14 degree weather in the Columnbia Gorge area - for the first time my batteries were very noticibly drained within a few hours.
-
knocking on wood, i used to lose it all the time on my rebel and my elan, but the one on my 20D seems to be a better fit.
