I've been learning my way around my new Canon G9. Part of that
learning is the use of close-up lenses for macro work. I ran across
this seed pod on a dead plant and thought it made a good subject to
learn on. This was my second shot with the G9 and a +2 close-up lens.

Seed pods in a trumpet vine growing in our back yard. The pods are
quite large and take on interesting shapes after they've served their
pupose.

The mask was lying on the street near my home. It's position within
the dirt tracks on the asphalt made for an interesting composition.

Someone defaced this stone in the Petroglyph National Monument.
Nonetheless it is a compelling image in its setting. I have found it
very challanging to photograph. It's on the side of a rocky outcrop
that enjoys few places for composition. And it must be photographed
late in the afternoon or the etching in the stone is almost invisble.
It has become a personal challange/project to try and extract a
decent photograph from this. This is one of hundreds of photographs
I've made of this so far. That it is somewhat close to my home makes
the challange somewhat less daunting.

An old tourist shop in Algedones NM. Its artwork and paint have since
been replaced with dull grey stucco.

Nicely done. Not using a telephoto lens has made a more intimate photograph. The lack of distance between you and your subjects makes you a part of their event.

Minor White said something to the effect that all photographers
photograph a mountain. Each photographer likes that photograph so
much that they spend the rest of their careers trying to duplicate the
success of that photograph. This is my "mountain photograph".
It was made on the bosque bordering the Rio Grande during a rare foggy
morning. The fog was lifting rapidly when I came across this scene.
Your comments and criticism are most welcome. Thanks.

Another photograph of a nearby yucca plant. I've been really taken by
the potential of this plant when photographed with a macro lens.
