  1. The best way is to ask the buyer to wire = T/T the money directly into you bank account. You will not have to reveal your bank account or any info of yourself. The bank will issue you a routing id and number. This way, they cannot cheat even their own bank because it is always money up front to his bank before you will get the wiring.
  2. Gentlemen,

First I have to let you know I am a colon-recto plumber. This nice but obviously in pain person is one of my patients. Everything was fine with him for the first ten days, then the ugly hole burst open. Needless to say, we are very concerned, and being be an MD does mean that one is imnune for insults. This is even more so when the hospital is very famous in the country for its R & D.

The depth of the wound being next to part of a 15 inch incision puzzled us. We put a measuring devise (with scope) shows an approximate depth of 19.5 inches. He was extremely lucky like I said before because there is no sign of infection yet.

So now he is being treated with injection of a stream of oxygen, followed by the "wet-dry" method. I am very happy to say he is recovering very nicely.

What has this got to do with Leica photography? Well, it was taken with a hospital provided Leica camera. it would be quite difficult to do it with a modern camera. Remember, not impossible but difficult and so it is my lame excuse to post it under the Leica Forum. Secondly, 50% of all American male would eventually get this. Is this enough to be a concerns to all of my friends here.

So get out today and tonight. Do something fun, because you don't know what tomorrow will bring... Good luck and a good weekend.

  3. Somehow, I am seeing this forum slowing going down, and most of the

topics is "Where do I buy the VC lens cheap and how does it compare

to the real Noct? Frankly, it is very boring. Another example : Mr.

Kaplan worshiping. Yes, he maybe the one person who tries to answer

everyones question, after a while, it becomes boring. I think these

informatio whic one can so easilly in the archives, unless something

    is changed,

I don't see any point to visit the forum on a daily basis anymore. I

feel so bad about the degrading of the forum, after most of our

elitist or smart members drop out two years ago, due to some of you

guy forgot your manners and turned this into a chat room, it is then

no longer worth visiting. I still contact our past heros, and they

are just as fun, caring, knowledgable as ever, and we all have

decided to lurk only. Our lips are sealed.

My membership is expiring, so good bye and God look after you guys.

  4. IMHO, it's not a good idea.

First, if you take so much cash with you, (assuming you live in the U.S.), the US Customers may want to know why. You may need to actually to bring the cash in Euro because the dollar is so weak that a lot of European vendors dislike our greenbacks. Hurrah to the Administration! If you bought the camera, you need to line up to pay tarrif when you come home, not pleasant or you can lie. However, if you get caught, you'll loose your camera and it is a misdemeanor, a mark for life.

If you plan to use your credit card, you are at the mercy of your bank on conversion rate and handling charges. Then there is the VAT, which is 19%. Yes, you can get it back when you leave EEC, but why?

If there is something wrong with the camera, you are on your own.

Think about it and best of luck.

  5. First of all, I can't verify what Matthew claimed anywhere. So should we just call it "spectculations"?

Sencond, if you are familiar with how the German do their business, then you'll see that Leica will not fall. If you want an analogy, check out the history of Porsche (another German company) and their 911 series.

I know of a machines factory that helped make guns during WWII, after the war, their were never profitable. Who feed them? The Deutch Bank, Government controlled.

Try to understand the German history and culture.

  6. We in the good old USA are so egocentric that we naturally assume everything in the world evolves around us, NOT !!

Right now, all the high end camera makers are concentrating their efforts in promoting sales for the new China. When was the last time you saw 30-40 Summilux 50/1.4 in one batch. How about 60 M7's, 30 MP ?? Well, I saw them when they were being prepared for a shipment to China.

Are you also aware that Hasselblad was bought out by a Hong Kong firm and now their primary interests are in China, not here. Rumors said they are also considering buying Leica and some others.. We used to be and had the greatest consumer power in the world, not anymore since our good ol' presidents start trading the things we have so as to gain some votes. Sad.

    Stop your colonial mentality, please.

  7. I am glad you are not a collector. If you can find an original (Meaning not repainted nor restored) black paint M2 and its price, it will make your heart stop. Well, maybe you are rich so it does not matter, but $4,000 for a real beater M2 black with mechanical flaws to a mint one, could easily set you back for US$10,000. There is one M4 black paint on eBay right now. Check out the asking price and you'll know what I mean. Cheers.
  8. Personally, I prefer my M7 over my M6TTL for all of the reasons posted above, which they are all valid. So, these are good advices and the Leica forumers are not ALL nasty beasts. My take on the M7 is it has a better viewfinder, which Leica admit is an improvement over the M6's. That alone is a good enough reason for me. If you are a young fellow with good eyes, my be you can get by with the M6, but when you want to sell, the newer M7 would definitely fetch you more. Try both, handle them, talk to the sales person, and decide on your own. Good luck.
  9. On the Gallery, points are given as Ratings (number of), Originality

and Aesthetics. When I click on the pictures, it is Rating-->

Aesthetics --> originality. Can we flip either one because it can be

confusing. My minor quibble for today, sorry.

  10. The Leica Forum is in a very sad state. It is not what it once was.

All the great and key people that made it addictive to read and

discuss are ALL gone. Ralph B, Marc W, the real Elliot R, the list

is endless. This is very sad. I hope the adminstration would take a

look at it, but I doubt if it can be revived unless somebody put in

    a great effort.

Travis, who used to post several times a day and every day, has gone

    too. Quite sad!

Is this what everybody or moderators want from the other forums?

  11. You guys better watch your mouths. One time I "suggested" one of Mr. Shishin's shot resembles a snapshot, he tracked me down, found my pictures in my folder, gave a five hundred word critique on each, stating how lousy they are, then proceed to gave me low ratings on all of my pictures; pictures that were almost one year old. I have since deleted all those pictures because of him. Pictures that have an average rating of 5.7/5.5, and he gave me his 2/2's and 1/1's. If that is not revenge and vindictiveness, I don't know what it is.

So Eric and the rest of you, watch out!
