1.
Thank you. I use Vuescan for my film scanner and my somewhat old flatbed scanner. I believe I read somewhere that using a hub was problematic with Vuescan. Aside from using laptop, my desktop ports are full when I include my backup drive and my scanners, printers, and monitors.

  2.
For a very long time I have used desktop computers for most things including photo editing. I am now considering a laptop but I have two scanners (mostly old, especially for film scanning) and two printers and two monitors. Laptops have limited usb ports. If I replace my desktop with a laptop and use a separate usb hub for connections to the peripherals, will I have problems? Previously I heard that some older scanners and other devices do not function well when connected to hubs. What is the current experience and thinking? Thanks for any help.

  3.
Thanks for the very helpful comments. I think I may start with the Panasonic 35mm to 100mm. Happy New Year.

  4.
the Bronx Zoo shot is terrific!! So about the Lumix 35-100mm f4-5.6 zoom, what are the implications for image stabilization with the Olympus bodies? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

  5.
I have a couple of Olympus m43 bodies and I am looking to expanding my walk around lenses. I have a couple of kit lenses (decent image quality but suspect build quality). I am looking for a somewhat longer zoom, maybe to about 135mm. Not looking for pro lenses but something better than kit quality. What about Panasonic? Thanks for any help.

  6.
Thanks for the input. To answer some of the queries. I have been a fairly serious amateur for 20 years or so. I submit to competitions fairly often. I have been shooting Pentax DSLRs and Olympus M4/3 mostly. Also have several Nikon film cameras and some AF and Manual focus lens which I like. Looking for walk around lens about 24mm to 105mm or so. Image quality is number one consideration. Best regards.

  7.
I admit I was a long time Pentax guy. But want advice for good all purpose zoom (medium range) for Nikon D7200. Thanks

  8.
I recently purchased this camera. The printed manual that came with it was somewhat abbreviated but I did find a more complete version online. Here is my hopefully simple question: when I bring the viewfinder up to my eye, I here a buzzing sound. Is that the EVF or is a microphone somehow activated that needs to be shut off? With my previous early Olympus M4/3, I had a separate attachable EVF. Thanks for any help. Much appreciated.

  9.
Well. Certainly has been an energetic thread with 60 responses. And I revisit only with with some trepidation. Eric very early on asked which Dell Ultrasharp. OK, I am thinking of the Dell Ultrasharp 24'' U2415 or the 4K P2415Q. I run Windows 7 and LR 4.4, with dual monitors. In terms of the latest and greatest, I am usually behind the curve, but if it works?. Thanks and other suggestions welcome. Much appreciated.

  10.
Thanks everyone. Interesting but not particularly helpful in terms of my original query.

  11.
I know monitors for photo editing is an ongoing topic. What I am asking about is whether the Dell Ultrasharp 24" is a good photo editing monitor. Not the best but one that I can calibrate and use with Lightroom. Thanks so much.

  12.
Thank you all. How does my query about the Tamron 28-75 compare to the Pentax DA 16-85 or 18-135 as walk around lens in terms of image quality? Suggestions much appreciated. Thank you.

  13.
Thanks for the responses. Right now I am not thinking full frame but interested in K1 as future possibility. More concerned about long end of 28-75 and not fixed on speed (f2.8). Image quality is key consideration. Thanks.

  14.
I am looking for a walk around zoom lens for Pentax DSLR and thinking of Tamron 28-75 F2.0. Have reviewed somewhat mixed reviews in past. Would like to learn more about more current perspectives. Thanks as always.

    Nikon D610

Well mostly for digital SLRs I have worked with Pentax products but want to venture into full frame. I am thinking about the Nikon 610 as an entry level body. I have several film era Nikon lenses. At this time point, is this a good choice? I have read about some spotting and quality control issues with the 610. Can I be confident these have been taken care of? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks.

  17. My location. Georgia. USA. Thanks.
  18.
I have a Mamiya 220C that has been lightly used but is old. I would appreciate recommendations for someone who could look at this camera and repair as needed. Thanks.

  19.
Thanks, when I follow that sequence and point to add the "parent folder", LR tells me it wants me to import all the photos and that is a problem. Thanks for any help.

  20.
Thanks. Let me try to be a little more specific. All my LR photos are on my external backup drive and I now want to copy them to the local drive on the new computer and return to the setup where I backed up to the external drive. Although I have watched and read online help sources, I remain confused about how to do this without messing everything up.

  21.
Not sure I got the most correct category but here's my question. My old computer had to be replaced and I am now ready to connect the external hard drive containing my backup files and load my photos into LR on my new computer. Any advice on how best to do this would be appreciated. My confidence level is not all that high. Thanks for any help.

  22.
Thanks for the input. Any other perspectives or advice? Thanks.

  23.
Lately, LR is shutting down on me and giving messages such as the following: LR encountered error when reading from preview cache; problem reading the catalog; integrity of the catalog. I have not been very successful trying to use the LR help features. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
