It appears to me that many old white guys here can't bother to read what the real issue is.

You may want to read the article. Not shameful at all in my opinion. She has a legitimate complaint and I hope Harvard at least gets embarrassed by their crass behavior

This guy was not doing any tongue in cheek thing, he was serious. It was a hot day and I saw him unload this cross from his vehicle. He carried/wheeled the cross for a mile or so on a path by the shore of Lake Michigan here in Milwaukee. I followed him until I could get a clean background with no trees, only the lake. I did talk to him when he finished his walk. He had no problems with me photographing him and was a very nice guy. There are good, sincere and decent people of all faiths and ditto that for atheists and agnostics.

A legitimate and thoughtful response. The kind of response I was looking for along with the many others that have responded so far.

I think the photo should make both the religious and non religious slightly uncomfortable. The branches, weeds and roller were intentionally left in the photo to prove and certify my 71 year old former Marine's rebellious nature.

That is exactly what it is. A touch of contrariousness is also involved.
