Hi There,
I specialize in headshots and am really interested in your opinion regarding the difference of a headshot and a portrait photograph.
The major difference in my opinion is the client's rights of usage, our customer need to have full discretionary rights of images so they can add the headshot to web, marketing and branding needs. Where as in portraits the image is the photographer copyright material to be used in a more artistic and less commercial ways such as art shows, books and so forth.
Please add your opinions,
Thanks in advanced,

From Olympic Village at Night
artofheadshots commented on artofheadshots's gallery image in Landscape
I was returning home from a Christmas Event. The ocean was calm that it looked like a mirror and the night was cold and clear. I didn't feel like photographing at 1 am on my way home from photographing 6hrs, but my creative senses could not refuse this opportunity. This image is a stitch of 4 HDR's - not my usual style, what do you think? -

Have always been fascinated with the First Nation culture. Coming from Venezuelan heritage I have European blood mixed with Pre-Hispanic blood as well. Thanks to my native genes I look younger than my age, I wished we had honoured that part of our heritage. William is a proud Warrior with a strong spirit, captured during one of my favourite shoots a couple of years ago.

I understand the general consensus that this isn't a traditional headshot, which is one of the reasons why I added to photo.net, the other reason is that she was crying when describing her GrandMother's influence, it was real. I added this headshot to the cover of my facebook page because its different. Unfortunately, most people lose sight of the image, when they see it - thinking that it would be a one dimensional image. Thanks, Carlos

I am a photographer specializing in Headshots, currently updating my system for clients to pick their chosen portrait to be touched up. I am wondering what proofing system do you use or recommend? Currently I have been using Photoshelter for 5 yrs, but am looking for a new solution, their galleries produce a unique numbering system that does not match the actual file size. Every time I produce a gallery I have to match their choices with my actual images increasing my workflow, I also lose traffic by using them... I asked them to help me, but photoshelter is more interested in teaching than learning from their actual clients like myself who has been paying a monthly fee for 5yrs.
I am excited to learn about your gallery proofing system for headshots,
Thanks,
Carlos

Pricing for group shot and 75 head shots
artofheadshots replied to Christal1664882414's topic in Business of Photography

Hi Christal,
I read your passage for doing a 75 Headshots to a corporation which is a huge undertaking, you were fortunate to have a few people offer great advice. Michael for example seemed quite experienced in this area... Now, that I assume you went ahead and did it! What did you learn from it? What would you have done differently?

Thanks for sharing,
Carlos
-
