Control.

No gallery examples, but memories: there was traditional dancing for the couple, who were seated a seated under an awning. After the dancing they remained under the awning with their hands clasped on a table in front of them; family walked past the table and placed flower petals on their hands until there was quite a mound of them. It was a lovely experience.

Switching brands doesn't sound like a good business decision. There's a lot of utility in the equipment you describe--use it up till it doesn't work anymore.

I consider utility, value, and weight when I buy equipment. If it works well consistently that's good enough. It's up to the photographer to supply the vision, talent, and patience required to be a pro.

I managed to rewind the film. Thanks for all your help! Dan

I have shot a test roll and can't figure out how to rewind it. No instructions came with the body. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks, Dan

Leo, Actually, it has to do with backup on reliable media, like the Mitsui Gold CDs. I can easily spend $40 to $60 or
more making backups of RAW images from weddings now using mostly an 8mp camera (and I confess I make a double
set--perhaps overly cautious, but it was a promise I made to myself went I went totally digital). I distrust DVD--even the
gold ones--so CDs are my choice for archiving. So if I were to make the leap either I'd have to restrain myself when
shooting (and I don't want to do that) or burn a heck of a lot more CDs. I am value driven and if I were to upgrade from
the 20D and 1D bodies I use I'd probably choose the 1D Mark III--which looks like a very capable camera, or buy a pair
of 1D Mark II cameras used. For what I'm doing I just don't need such a big file--I still use my original 4 MP 1D a lot and
it's a great camera

Although there are some appealing things about this camera, I can't help thinking 22 mp is overkill. I shoot raw, and I
struggle with storage now at 8.2 mp files. I wonder if I am alone is this regard, or are there others who see the file size as
a negative point?

What is the difference between f1 and 0.95? (I'd actually like to be able to shoot at f1, I just can't afford to.)
-
E. I keep selling them, and then buying other ones because I miss them. (Currently using a Fed 2 with a 50 LTM
Summicron for my personal camera.)
-
Thanks for the quick response! Also can use Dymo tape--I wonder if they still make it? Dan

Can you collapse it? I didn't find a definitive answer in the archive--any current experience out there?
Thanks,
Dan

<<So everyone is in agreement then? A better version of teh M8 at half th price will do the trick?>>
That would certainly work for me! As for everyone being in agreement, well....

Canon 20D used. Excellent performance and value.

I have been told that background radiation can create a fogging effect over time on
very fast films, even in the refrigerator or freezer. Does anyone here have reliable
information on this?

Perhaps the answer to the question lies in your behavior. My situation is reversed: while I
would love to shoot film, develop it, and scan it, I don't because I have not been willing to
set aside the time for scanning. I shoot with digital cameras because it suits my lifestyle, and
I leave film cameras on the shelf and think that I should sell them to someone who would
use them. (Right now I have a perfectly good Canon P with a 50mm LTM Summicron on it,
and a Voightlander meter in the shoe, and it is just sitting there. I do exercise the shutter to
keep it loose. I keep thinking I should sell it, but so far I haven't listed it.) I have a persistent
illusion that I will use it, but my behavior tells me that I won't.

Nice idea...I'd be seriously tempted with a ff sensor.

Handsome rascal, that Newfy!
-
Not as pretty as the old Luxus gold and tan of way back when, but it does have a certain
panache.

I ended up buying a vented aluminum non-Leica hood from a dealer in Florida. Thanks for
your suggestions!
-
I believe this older lens is 39mm.
-
I got a good deal on a 5cm LTM Summicron collapsible lens; need a lenshood but I don't want to spend a
fortune on it. Also UV filter that will work with a lenshood. Anyone have any thoughts on a source for
this? I also have an add in the classified section.

Question: does anyone know if there is a problem collapsing a screwmount Summicron on a Canon P
body? (The Canon has metal shutter curtains than I don't want to damage.) Thanks,Dan
