A truck.

I liked the DOF and the bright coloration of the subject.

I liked this technique better when Rodchenko used it 80 years ago. And where have I seen that spire before?

This was taken with EIR infrared ektachrome film. The colors were then
remapped by rotating the color space.

yeah, well... it's a false color film. *rolls eyes*

This image is one of my first forays into large format, so please be
gentle.

The image is intriguing, however the trees in the foreground are very distracting. I feel that without them, this image would have alot more drama. The visual tension (pardon the pun) centered on the knife-like edge of the rope would be heightened considerably.

A bit of mystery, I suppose.

I agree the foreground does seem a bit overexposed, however the overall effect is quite striking.
very impressive!

An experiment with reflections in glass. I tried to align the
geometry of the street scene outside with the geometry of the diner
interior. I am rather pleased with the result but I would like to
hear others' opinions.

This is a self-portrait. For this photograph I posed myself as
something of a thuggish character. Which wasn't too hard, since I
happen to look that way most of the time. In addition to the nice
tonal balance of the background, the shadows in this photo benefit
from the low angle of the sun on a winter afternoon.

I agree the jeep in front is distracting. As are the reflections. I used a PL filter which removed alot of sky reflection from the jeep and the windows, however, the other reflected light is at a much more shallow angle and I couldn't get rid of it. I'm intend to reshoot this location at a different time of day, and with a slower-speed film.

This shot was one of those that's just waiting to be taken.
My only regret is that there is no human element. I spent over 4
hours total on the print, which was a first for me -- I've only been
doing this for a few weeks. I'd love to hear comments about
composition and tonal balance, and any ways you think this photo
might be improved. Thanks.

This is a pinhole image made with a paint-can camera. I feel this
image has good balance between light and dark areas, as well as
unique properties of perspective. This is my 5th successful pinhole
image. Thanks, John

This photo is great!
As much as I am annoyed by the presence of the fellow in the background, his 1970's style and the fact that he's going about his business make the proper subjects seem all that more like fish-out-of-water. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to blur him a bit tho, so he's not so much in the foreground.
That you captured this moment is a little miracle! :)
Congrats!
