Hi,
I am planning to work and standardize with Tri-X 400. I Studied the
Kodak literature and have the following questions.
1) How to interpret the dip in Spectral sensitivity in the 450 - 550
Nm Region ? Does it mean the negative density will be lower in the
bluish green region.
2) I plan to use D-76 and compared the Contrast Index curves for
different development times. The D 76 Straight solution has a very
steep slope compared to the D 76 diluted 1:1. Does that mean it is
better to use 1:1 so it will be less sensitive to errors in
development time/temp and afford more control. Is there any other
factor to consider ?
3) How does the Toe portion of this film behave? How to interpret
this practically.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Rajkumar

1. Shot a series in the following sequence

i. EV0 exactly as the meter reading (both reflected and incident were same)
ii. Four more shots upto EV0 plus 5 EV
iii. Four more shots upto EV0 minus 5 EV
Both in steps of 1EV
Next steps

All shot in RAW under exactly same ambient light

Next I used Adobe Bridge set all parameters to Zero fixed a white balance and achieved a pixel reading of 118. Saturation also Zero and saved JPEG

I opened the rest of the ten images under exactly same bridge settings and saved them as separate files

I used the Sekonic Data Transfer software Create Profile>Quick mode

I did the EV0 setting for midpoint as required by the software

I imported all the eleven images as required by the software

I set the + marks as required by the software

When I click the nest button I now get a profile curve that show both EV and Pixel values on both sides from the EV0

I use this curve review the Clipping point and Dynamic Range settings

I preserve this as a profile and save it one the 758

Now using the profile shows me the new Dynamic and clipping Range
