Dr. Li Zhisui (Mao's private physician) wrote a book entitled The Private Life of Chairman Mao, its a real eye opener. The New Emporers by Harrison Salisbury is a very good read. Three Swans (can't remember author) was a riveting account of life in China under Mao.

Shoot whatever you want, just don't wear a turbin!

OK, thanks for the info guys. I've got 22 pages of stuff printed out. If I can't get it straightened out now I'm going to go take up something a little easier to comprehend, like quantum mechanics!!

Hey, I just can't seem to sort it out! Every time I take a photo
with my 10D I get a 72ppi image. On page 46 of my instruction manual
it shows how to set the "Image-Recording Quality" and I've followed
the instructions. The camera is set for "Large-Fine" but I still get
the same 72dpi image. Somebody please take it one step at a time and
explain to me what I should understand. I've been through this a
dozen times over the last couple of years but apparently I'm missing
something. Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about whether or not you got a good deal. Just use the equipment and have a good time. Years from now when you are a high paid executive you can get new gear and not even think about the price!

It looks like a good start to me.

Are you shooting to be artistic or are you shooting to sell photos. The average bride and family want well made photos of people the can RECOGNIZE! Extremely few brides will fill their wedding albums with "artsy" photos, that's my experience at least.

Most successful sunset/sunrise photos have something of interest silhouetted in the foreground. If its something LIVE, all the better.

Do a Google search for Pro-Craft and Art Leather.

I'm fond of the G minor cord myself!

I've travelled to China twice and Russia three times using two different kinds of lead lined bags. No problems. HOWEVER, if you want to save some money (as in not paying for lead lined bags!), be sure and take two or three rolls of 1600 ISO film and always ask for a hand inspection because you have some "really sensitive film".

I keep trying to tell people, don't sell your fotos, sell your service! Charge what you want for your professional skills and GIVE the proofs and negatives to the customer to do with as they please! Boy, talk about a lazy man's way out! They do all the work and you pocket the profit! You have to charge enough up front to make it work but after that, they have the task of assembling a wedding album, ordering prints, etc.

I've been to Mexico once, China twice, Russia three times, and I've never registered squat!! Forget it.

Great link, Josh. Who cares? People interested in photography I guess!!

If that problem DOES occur, you can simply cut a piece of translucent material and cover 1/2 of the ring light to provide some modeling.

Well, now that I take another look, there's one growing out of the bride's head also!! This is a perfect example of the need to ALWAYS look at your background when photographing people. Do that or plan on doing a lot of work in your photo editing software.

Now that the vertical shaft of light and "Uncle Bill" are gone we can see that the other verticals are also detracting from this image. There's one growing out of the groom's head!

I used this lens in Beijing to shoot the Chinese opera from the balcony using 1/30th second and got useable images.

Well, shoot! I can do better than that!

I've been there twice and the second time I took a 300mm f/4 Canon IS, sure glad I did.

Hey, I'm looking for a good, expensive private jet! Ya gotta keep in mind that, to a large extent, we get what we pay for in this world.
